GLX Forks and Airdrop Heaven

2024 is starting off with a bang and looking to be a pretty epic year. There seems to be airdrops galore just waiting to be scooped up.

I was just thinking, things seem to be abit quiet in the GLS discord and then we received this banger of a tweet from Aggy:

He announced the launch of the much anticpated arcade platform called Arcade Colony where they will help port games from web2 to web3. This is some great news for Hive and will be good to help games and developers onboard easier.

Not only that, my patience of stacking the GLX token will pay off as there will be a token fork 1:1 for the new COLONY token. The balance will be taken by the end of the month for anybody who still wants to get in on the action.

That was a lovely green candle that we haven't seen in Hive Engine for a while.

The good news doesn't end there either, there will be an ongoing airdop for holders of SPS and GLX stakers. It will be split 50:50, so SPS stakeholders will also be rewarded in the new token which is cool.

To get the airdrop, you can have GLX staked in the LP or ingame to qualify. With SPS, there was no mention about if SPS in LPs would count. However, there is an upcoming Town Hall next Friday and there should be more details. Also we will await the whitepaper eagerly.

The other news was that there is the first game ready to be released on the platform already and details of the sale is ready. It is called Moon Karts and will be a playable game, not card based like we have seen up until now.

I am wondering if it will be similar to the Spider Tanks game but more racing focused.

I quite like racing arcade games, so am interested to see how this will evolve in web3. So far, getting the tokenomics right for arcade games hasn't been easy.

Summary

It waits to be seen how this news will affect the market for GLX and SPS, both tokens that I like to hold. I am for sure looking forward to reading the whitepaper and getting this airdrop.

So far we know that you need to hold and stake GLX for the forked tokens. For the airdrop hold and stake GLX and/or SPS.

I still had to claim my last batch of GLX after having sold nearly everything on the way down. Not sure what to think of this airdrop, feels like they just keep copy-pasting the same token model creating clone after clone. This said, it's nice to get something extra mainly for SPS Staked though, those airdrops were one of the reasons I got my initial stack.

The price has fallen quite a bit, so selling was the best option so far. I do wonder that we need another token, but I guess I'd they are creating new gaming economies. I just hope onboarding will be easier than with Splinterlands and GLG.
