Cagaleche, I saw you!

But what did this bird think that I was not going to see it in that open field ("descampado", as we say here in Cuba too)!

$1

In that moment, I had to see what magic I could do to get the picture, because now I have to focus manually. And look... it's not easy. Of course, the focus is not correct, or ‘no está clavao’ as we say here in Cuba 😁. Not even the alignment, around 6 pm, of planets, constellations and medieval markets made it possible for myself to get it right, so don't even dare to zoom in on the photo.

😒

But this name ‘cagaleche’ is one of the Cuban nicknames for this bird. I just saw it here on a recognition search, I couldn't look in the back, you know....

$1

the other photo I got of the aforementioned, you know what, is this one and it was behaving well. He was tiptoeing around on his toes I think thinking I wasn't looking at it...haha... Look what a colourful outfit my model is wearing, blue, green, yellow and... 🤔 earthy colour? I think this is a trend in this year's spring summer fashion. This is the nesting season. I read in a publication of our botanical garden that it is between March and August. It doesn't matter, if we do go on the odd outing we have to be well-dressed. 😁

This bird, whose scientific name is Butorides virescens, is also known as the Green Heron.Another name it is known by here in Cuba is aguaitacaimán.

My camera was out of battery and with the little problem that I don't seem to see well, I took these photos.

$1

These were not going to go anywhere... but the camera was going to shut down. So nothing... don't zoom in here either.

$1

They are water hyacinths, aren't they? oh, how beautiful these flowers are. A plant native to the Amazon that found no resistance to stay floating in any ‘calm’ water on this planet where the temperature ranges between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius.

In some countries hyacinths are considered a threat because they form obstacles to water flow, affecting transport and local livelihoods, reducing water quality, creating disease-carrying vectors and killing native aquatic life.

🤷‍♀

$1

From this point on I had only one option left, the AKASO action camera. And of course I didn't return home... suddenly I was unblocked, figure it out, I had eaten some very tasty snacks that I had in my tote bag, they were a visual temptation.

$1

Like this plant that in the place where I found it was... out of place and it was unique. But nature is amazing, isn't it?

$1

And this one is the aura tiñosa (Cathartes aura) native to southern Canada, which let me get quite close before it flew away.

I don't know if I'll be in time for our host @nelinoeva's Show Me A Photo Contest Round 213... here's my contribution and hoping you all have a great Sunday and a well feathered 😃 start to the week!

I didn't know you did nature photography as well? Nice!
We also have a lot of Herons over here, but 'our' are grey. I love it when they are in 'hunting mode' like the one in your third photo.
Nicely captured!

Cool that you manage to caoture that bird of pray in film too. That's quite a big one!

Yes, sometimes I take pictures of birds and squirrels. I like this kind of photography, as well as flowers, vegetation, in a general way. It is very relaxing.
I didn't know how to explain the name given here to the poor thing... but it's just separating the word caga leche (milk poo), or something like that. Hahaha... 🤐

She/he looks very snazzy in those colours! We have quite a few species of Herons here as well, but I've not seen one as colourful as this on, or shall I say as stylish ;)
Lovely seeing that bird take off!
The Hyacinth is very pretty but as you say are seen as invaders, they've caused extensive damage to a large dam here.
Have a great Sunday @nanixxx 💕

It's elegant, yes.. but the name doesn't suit the poor thing. There I tried to explain to friendlymoose. 🤣

Thank you for your visit and have a lovely Sunday!

(The beauty of the hyacinth is dangerous... and superficial. Hahaha... joke.)

I have never seen a green heron before!!!! It is beautiful! I love it and the camera behaved well... and you were able to manually take the pictures... water lilies, what a beauty! And yes, nature always surprises and when something shouldn't be there and it appears... sign!

Beautiful gif!

Actually I have always used the manual mode for photography, but not the focus, which I always left on automatic. The Panasonic Lumix will stay by my side a bit longer doing something here and there until I manage to buy a new camera. ☺️

The water hyacinths are very pretty, yes. I couldn't figure out the name of that flower that was out of place.... It's like one of those cat's tails. Do you remember? I was tired yesterday. I'll find out why it was sprouted there.

It may have been a seed left by a bird... the camera... let's use it until I ask for retirement!

😂 Yes...
Honorably retired. And with many medals.

A bird probably carried the seed but I'm going to take my bike for a ride and admire the beauty around me once again. 😁

Good morning @nanixxx, one of the things I love about Hive are posts like this one. Getting a chance to see scenery, things I don't get to see usually. That moving image at the end is spectacular.

Thanks so much @nanixxx.

Hug 🤗

Good morning, @enraizar. How are you? I'm very hungry, I woke up a while ago with my stomach roaring. Isn't there a piece of cake around to go with the coffee? Hahaha... Bring it, please, if you can.

Otherwise I have to start making pancakes now. 🥱😊

I'm thinking of going for a bike ride.

That's a scavenger bird. I realised that it was there because someone had left some nylon bags with some kind of meat in them lying in the grass. It is really sad to see how people throw rubbish into nature. 😔

Espero que hayas tenido (o lo estés disfrutando todavía) un buen día de bicicleta. No me llama mucho la atención que la gente tire la basura, aquí hay mucho guarro. ES probable que la mala educación sea un mal universal.

Un abrazo muy grande.

Good morning, dear friend @nanixxx

What a peculiar name for this beautiful bird, although I can only imagine why it's nicknamed.

A beautiful walk surrounded by nature. I love the water hyacinth.

The colors of this green heron are beautiful. I appreciate you sharing all this information and the beautiful photographs.

Have a happy and prosperous week.

Hi... I was looking, and it seems to have a few more names. I'd heard my cousins who live in the countryside mention it, but I couldn't remember which bird it was. Until I saw the way I did. Hive is a charming world. I live in an area with lots of greenery and places to explore, but here I have to be careful because I shouldn't wander alone in remote places. 🤷🏻

I really enjoy sharing stories, so it's a great pleasure for me. @jlufer, my friend, may your good wishes for me return to you multiplied. Have a nice Sunday. 🌞✨

I don't want to imagine why you name cagaleche to ídem... 😂 But its plumage is beautiful, it rivals well with the hyacinth. I did not know that in some places it was considered an invasive species, in Spain it is appreciated and used as a decorative plant in many gardens. Happy Sunday, dear. ❤️

Me? 😂 No, people give it that name.

You know we don't all have the same idea about things. It might be fine for gardens, but if it's spread in a place where drinking water is stored, it's probably not good.

Water hyacinth is very beautiful, but very superficial, hahaha 😂🤣 esto se me ocurrió hace unas horas cuando le respondí a Lizelle y me dio mucha risa.

Gracias Paloma, feliz domingo.

The “you” was referring to the plural meaning. 😂

Very good about the superficiality of the hyacinth. Yes, everyone has their own perspective. Hugs and kisses, my darling. ❤️

Hi Nanixxx!!! That bird has the perfect color to camouflage itself among the trees and grass... and it's beautiful... taking pictures of birds is quite difficult for me, so you were pretty lucky, right? And the shot of the stinging aura was spectacular... so it was your lucky day despite the issues with your camera. Ahh, please share a little piece of cake with me from the one they offered you up there... Wow, that looks delicious! 😅

Bird photography is tricky in the sense that it requires a camera, which doesn't have to be professional, but it does require a zoom lens to be able to photograph the models from a distance. Hahaha... because they're very restless and fly away.

Focusing in manual mode isn't a good idea since everything happens very quickly, but hey... it is what it is, I have to adapt at the current situation. 🤷🏻

The Akaso action camera is sometimes very useful... hahaha... and as for the cake, serve yourself a piece. You'll see it's never ending; it's an infinite loop of meringue. But remember not to eat too much of it for your health.

Un abrazo, y que estés bien. 😊

Ups! 🦉

So nothing... don't zoom in here either.
