Dito Sugbu Half Marathon w/Friends
Hello Fellow Hivers! How are you? I hope you all are doing well. It's been a while, but here I am, sharing with you a story about my wonderful experience at the recent Fun Run event held by Dito Sugbu Half Marathon. 🏃♀
My first ever fun run, it was filled with joy, nervousness, and fear, but despite everything, I conquered it. The fun run had three categories for the runners; there was 21 km, 12 km, 6 km, and lastly 1 km. Each category started on its own time; the 21 km started earlier than the other categories, at exactly 3:00 A.M., and a 30-minute interval for the 12 km and 15 minutes for the 6 km and lastly 10 minutes for the 1 km. I joined the 12 km category as a first timer and it wasn't a bad start for me since I finished 178 out of 1033 participants in the 12 km category.
It was almost 1 A.M. when my friend woke me up just to prepare for this run because we needed to at least have a bit of food in our stomachs, and also we still needed to travel. On the way to the event we converse about how excited and nervous we are for this event that we've been preparing for and waiting for a month. When we arrived at the place, there were a lot of participants, and the host started the 21 km category, and after that, they instructed us on the 30 minutes interval for the next category to run, and then they grouped up the 12 km runners to join the Zumba for a warm-up before the run.
And the run started; the first 6 km we paced at least 6-7 minutes, and it was exhausting, but we managed to endure it until we turned back to finish the 12 km back to the starting line because it is also our finish line. There were a lot of people, and there are also some content creators on the run, and we managed to have a snap with one of them.
We finished the run at exactly 1 hour and 20 minutes, but only the three of us, me and the two of the most consistent runner finished first, and the other two finished 1 hour and 40 minutes as they were left behind because we were a bit fast for them, and we also have more endurance than them. At the finish line there were people who handed out our medals and led us to the food station as they provided us with meals and also to the next stations where we could claim our finisher t-shirts. There were a lot of stations; there's a photograph, Pocari Sweat(energy drink), Century tuna, cleaning shoes, and a lot more.
Overall, the experience of this fun run was a great pleasure for me, as I achieved one of my goals this year, which is to join this kind of event. And now we are bound to join the next event and conquered the 21 km category for the IPI event.
