My Inspiration Comes From The Simplest of Things - Contest #222

Inspiration for me doesn't always come from the flashiest of things... sometimes, it's the simple things that do it for people as far as getting inspired is concerned. For me, I'm in that category of people who draw a lot of inspiration from simple things around. For me, there are quite a number of things that truly inspires me... but for this post, I will be talking about a 3 of the top ones that do it for me and where I draw most of my inspiratons from.

The Awesomeness of Nature:

I included nature as the number one thing I draw inspiration from because it is in abundance. Everywhere you go, there is an element of nature there... from the bright clouds and sky, to the colorful vegetation and flowers, to the beautiful animals and birds in the sky... so so incredible.

For me, as a creative person, whenever I feel stuck when doing any of my creative works like designing or making art, nature is everything... when I feel like my brain needs to refresh and get new ideas, I simply go outside or go to the beach, feel the atmosphere and sounds of the ocean, look at the beautiful birds in the sky, walk around and observe how amazing the different color palettes in nature through the flowers, rocks, grunginess of the rocks and sand, the trees, and all the beautiful things nature has to offer...

Nature instantly fills me with inspiration and ideas i need to recharge and continue pushing. For instance, when I'm working on a design and i need inspiration on color harmony and color choices to make, there's no better place than the beautiful nature as in my opinion, nature is incredibly beautiful and perfect when it comes to color harmony and how well it uses colors.

Books, Books and More Books

I've always been that person that loves reading ever since I was a young girl... From reading children stories when I was a kid down to my teenage days... to reading inspirational and business related books.

Reading books is without a doubt my second best thing I do to get inspiration... This is the most obvious one because there are books specifically written to inspire people. I read different types of books ranging from creativity books, books about design to business related books. One of the most difficult things as a designer is looking at a black canvas and trying to come up with design ideas... so for me, I like to skim through a couple of design books to get the creative juice flowing before I even launch any design software to design anything.

Running my design business also requires me to read a lot of business related books to get motivation and inspiration from. One of the business books that have added a lot of value to me is Start From Zero by Dane Maxwell. It was exactly what I needed when I wanted to start my own design business. I also like to read books about the success stories of other business owners and great leaders of the top companies as that also helps inspire me when running my business.

Music, Movies, and People

I decided to add these 3 as the other ways I get inspiration from. When I'm not outside admiring nature's awesomeness or reading books, I'm either listening to great music, watching movies or having a conversation with people.

For music, It inspires me a lot... not all kinds of music but music with well thought out and meaningful lyrics that make you pause and ponder.

For movies, there are many movies that are made to teach people a lot of valuable lessons and inspire people... These are the types of movies I like to watch.

Lastly, talking to people is another way I draw inspiration from. When I talk to people who have achieved things I wish to achieve or attained a level I wish to reach, it is a great inspiration for me to work even harder and strive to be better to get to those heights.
