Discovering Gobrunch

So this week, #dreemport took us into some new discoveries, and it was my first time hearing about Gobrunch. One thing I love about Dreemport is that it helps Dreemers to always explore something new, connect with people, and keep learning. At first, when this June Challenge with GoBrunch was announced, I was skeptical about participating. I was like, which one is an expo event outside hive? Hahaha, but glad I left my comfort zone to go discover something amazing for myself.

Gobrunch is an innovative community platform, more of a learning center. They hosted an expo event that ran through the 11th and 12th of June, where we had lots of presenters discuss different topics in different rooms. Day 1 of the event was quite frustrating, I must confess. You know the feeling when you are exploring something new. At first, the whole platform looked strange to me. I kept hearing to find a room of your interests and have your seat, but I found it difficult to navigate through the communities. I was stuck in the main room.

But then, I visited the Dreemport Discord server and shared my complaints with other dreemers that looked stranded like me, lolz, and we received help. It was then that we had access to specific room links—more than 30 links leading to different rooms with different topics. I checked through the topics and found most of them interesting to learn from. The first room I visited was Coaching, Life Health, & Grief here, but the presenter of this room wasn't active at that time. I kept exploring different rooms and found another interesting topic, Early Learning Cafe here, but still, the room wasn't active, and we were like three people waiting for the presenter. I later visited a room discussing AI and other interesting things, but then my network got me so frustrated that I left. I went back to the main menu and searched for the Day 2 topics. That was when I saw conflict resolution with Joris Gray. I quickly registered for the session so I could get email notifications. I love the topic and didn't want to miss it for anything.

Day 2 was a nice experience; all the issues I had on Day 1 were gone, and I could navigate through the main expo event and find my way to different rooms. However, I stuck with Joris Gray and listened to her discuss conflict resolution.

The session was so informative and practical, with lots of interactions with the participants. Let me give you a little bit of a summary of what Joris Gray said about conflict resolution...

According to her, many people try to avoid conflicts like plaque, but as humans, there comes a time when you find yourself with highly conflicted people. It could be conflict between clients in business or relationship conflicts. However, it's vital that you seek ways to resolve these conflicts and enjoy your peace of mind. One of the ways you can achieve that is by taking a little break, although giving yourself time is not enough to resolve a conflict but to calm down tension. Then try talking about the issue that bothers you with the person you have a conflict with. Also, if you learn to stay grounded, regulated, and calm, then you can stay with anyone. Slowing down the whole momentum to think about the other person trying to see his or her own point of view is vital, as it can help bridge the gap that may be causing the conflict.

Also, your tone makes a difference when you are set to resolve a conflict; instead of screaming out of anger, you can try slowing down your voice and taking your breath.

These and more were what Joris Gray taught us about conflict resolution, and I loved the session. It was the only room I stuck with on day 2, and the presentation lasted for an hour and thirty minutes. Next week, is another date with her on the topic of Don't wait until it's broken. You can register for free and join the session if you wish.

Finally, here is the Gobrunch Link, where many events are listed. You can explore and choose topics of your interest for the next event.

Gobrunch indeed a new name to me also. Somehow I don't feel interested in any kind of show or live discussion. Whenever I want to join such kind of thing, my limited time give me warning again and again.

Yeah, I saw you there. I was busy with my roaming about and jumping from one room to the other. The rooms were so beautiful and I learned a lot from people.

Conflict resolution. You might try to avoid conflict as an individual but you can't control other people's mind as there are different kinds of human beings who will just initiate one issue and viola, you are conflicting with them 🤣🤣 humans can be funny but one has to learn how to manage these types of people everywhere we meet ourselves.
The topic seems interesting and I enjoyed how you explain the session you had with other participants.

Hmmmm! I feel like crying like now, You won't believe I was unable to attend both day 1 and 2 😢

I tried on day 1, it wasn't even letting me in, I got frustrated and left

Day 2, I finally got in and was able to see so many rooms but my network started frustrating me again, that was how I left oo

I hope to prepare well next time with a stronger network

And Joris Gray is right, Your tone determines whether you are trying to resolve conflict or worsen it
