Every Friday of each week I will publish a post in which I will announce the winner of the previous contest and select 4 posts published within the Olio di Balena community by 4 different authors.
I will only select posts that are not yet in payout at the time the weekly announcement is published.

My role is and will only be as a selector of posts because it will always be the members of the Olio di Balena community who will choose the Best Author of the week via a voting poll in a thread on Inleo.

Olio di Balena members will be able to vote for their favorite author from Friday until the poll closes, which will occur every Monday at: 10:00 UTC - 6:00 AM EST - 11:00 UTC+1 (Italian time)

Post selection criteria.

The basic rules to follow when writing posts are the same rules given by @fedesox who is the creator of the Olio di Balena community:

• Italian writing welcome
• original content
• respect and fairness

To these basic rules I have added selection criteria.

In selecting the best posts I will consider multiple elements including:

Selection Criterion 1: The quality of the post.

• Minimum 500 words.
  I will not consider posts with less than 500 words.
  Important note: For dual language posts, only one language will be considered for word count.
• Citation of sources.
  If you use images that are not your own, you must always indicate the source from which you took the images (image link).
  If the pictures/images in your post are yours you must still include anywhere in your post an indication that they are your own pictures/images.
  Also remember that images if not yours must be usable for commercial purposes.

Selection Criterion 2: the level of interaction in the Olio di Balena community.

• those who wrote 0 comments during the week will not be considered even if they wrote a Pulitzer Prize-worthy quality post.
• you must have commented at least once on a post by another author published within the Olio di Balena community
• if two posts have equal or similar quality it will be the level of interaction that will be the deciding factor for selection.

Selection criterion 3: a greater score for the use of the Italian language.

The Best Author of the Week initiative is open to everyone (Italian and non-Italian) but the use of the Italian language allows more chanches to be selected among the 4 nominations

The reason for this choice is related to one of the goals of Olio di Balena: to try to increase Italian language content on Hive.

If you are not Italian and you are a member of Olio di Balena you are always welcome on Olio di Balena but if you want to have more chanches to be selected as author of the week I suggest you to add also the Italian version/translation to your post ;)

Rotation Criterion:

To give more authors a chance to win this contest the winner of each contest will be excluded from the nominations only for the next contest.
Note: I will not apply this criterion only if the number of valid posts for the contest published on Odb is less than 4.

The prizes for Top Author of the Week

Each week the winner of this initiative, the best author of the week, will receive two prizes:

• 60% of the weekly post rewards.
• will be placed on @leo.voter's curation list starting when @weeklytops announces the winners until Friday.
  important note: leo.voter will only curate posts published using the Inleo editor.

Each week the beneficiaries of the "Best Author of the Week" post will always be:

• 60% Author of the Week
• 20% @weeklytops
• 14% @odb-contest
• 6% divided among the non-winning authors

Decentralized curation is a very important step forward for Hive communities and community involvement is very important, which is why it is important that you participate in this process!

In the seven days preceding the publication of this post there were more than 30 posts published in the Olio di Balena community but only just over 10 posts exceeded the minimum requirement of 500 words needed to be considered for nominations.

I have read all the posts written by the authors who publish on Olio di Balena but unfortunately, however, I had to exclude excellent posts from the selection, such as the posts written by @p1k4ppa10 because to enter the nominations it is necessary to write at least one comment under a post by another author published on Odb in a time interval of 7 days.

So dear friends and members of Olio di Balena, remember to write at least one comment under a post by another Odb author ;)

I also had to exclude some posts because citing the source of the cover image led to websites where it was not specified whether the image was free of copyright or not.
I advise you to use free images from sites where it is easy and immediate to verify the license of the image because I honestly cannot undertake searches that require a lot of time just to verify this requirement. There are many sites that offer free images ;)

I also take this opportunity to invite members of the community to participate more assiduously in voting (not upvoting) in the poll but obviously only if you like this initiative.
Voting in the poll takes a second and has no cost because voting in the poll is not an upvote.
In the previous contest there were only 2 votes from Odb members out of three total votes and this number is really too small.
If participation in the poll continues to be so small in future contests I will consider whether to stop it.
So dear Odb members, if you like this initiative, remember to give your appreciation to one of the 4 nominations!
