Title: BW - A gloomy and depressing beginning of the new year

If the day is known by the morning, does that also apply to the beginning of the new year?

This new year 2024 started with gloomy clouds and a very depressing atmosphere in the streets. Does this signify that the year will be miserable from start to finish, or is it just that a gloomy phase has arrived right before the new year?

The only bright moments on the streets were the still-present New Year's decor and lighting.

There are hardly any people at all in the city square and the streets. I crossed the city square to get to the sole open store in the area, and there were only two people there.

Finally, sounds of beings could be heard on the walk back. They were little passerine birds, blue tit and great tit. They consumed seeds and dried fruits from trees.

On the way back across the square, the picture is even scarier. Only bronzed sculptured people and me. Silence reigned over the city. Great silence after last night's burst of firecrackers and fireworks.

I hope, as an incorrigible optimist, that this silence and gloom will not prevail this year. I wish you all a successful and happy New Year.
