Title: BW - Mono Wednesday walk

One of my early morning rituals is to glance out the window. A quick look outside for a brief weather check. From what I could see, the cold weather persisted.

The real winter has finally arrived, and the temperature has been in the minus for a couple of days. The forecasted snow has fallen, but unfortunately, there is none left. Instead, frosts and fog are everywhere. Nearly every surface has some frost on it.

Throughout my stroll, I saw a variety of bird species. For some of them, winter is a very tough time to locate food. Particularly if there is frost or snow on the ground.

It appears that other species are unaffected by the cold, snow, and frost. When they sleep in a tree during the day, frost even accumulates on their ear feathers.

My walks have been taking the same route for a while now, heading to and from the lake. I occasionally move through different streets, but my objective remains the same. The lake and its surrounding area appeared particularly ghostly today, in part because of the heavy fog and in part because there were no people around. Only a pair, far out in the mist on the other side of the lake, and the silence between us.

Only rooks and moorhens disturbed the silence.
