MY LAST EMPLOYER

During the ASSU strike of 2022 that lasted for 8 months, I decided to work in a pastry shop, where we baked cake, made chin, smoothies, cookies e.t.c but our main focus was on chin cause that was what was sold others were based on the order. I went to visit a close friend and told him how I was tired of staying at home and he said his neighbor in the shopping mall needed a baking assistant she already had a sales representative but just needed a helping hand with baking I quickly grabbed the opportunity and resumed work after the interview and negotiation.

Now I worked in that place for just three months cause the strike was called off when I was just three months there but she never knew I was a student, I don't mean to brag or blow my whistle but I was her best staff among the three of us according to her. Others were there but I was always the one called to do things outside my job description; things like doing delivery when the delivery man was out on assignment, going to trade fairs, etc.

At first, I felt it was a normal thing to be the newest worker which I wasn't happy with cause it was stressful until one day my employer called me and told me that the reason she was doing all of this was because she loved my attitude towards work and whatever I was given to handle. I was blushing 😊, my employer's relationship with all her employees has always been a mother and child relationship although sometimes……… I didn't say anything

I told her I was going to stop working two weeks before I went back to school and she became sad she even increased my salary by 15% that month but I had to go back to school which I didn't tell her directly cause people don't like employing students. Yes I know I lied and she later got to know when she called me and said since I don't want to work for her someone is looking for a sales rep she recommended me to the person I told her I was in school and that I was a student ASSU strike made me work for her.

She has mixed feelings but all the same, she was happy for me and now she has relocated abroad but we do communicate once in a while🤗.

peace out ✌️

I always wondered why some business owners don't employ students until i learned that it was due to their unsteadinrss. They could just get up one morning and have to get back to school, maybe leaving thrir employer in a fix. Its understandable.
And its so good to read that your employer was good to you just as you were to her. Its an effective way of building relationships for long-term.
