The Beer Saturday Challenge - Week 372 - My Entry
The other day while walking along the Hive corridors I stumbled upon a great post by a Hivian called @detlev who runs a weekly beer contest. Being a staunch admirer of beer and lager I had to learn more. I should just add the cover image for the post is enough to make you run to the fridge and grab a beer - cheeky! Fortunately I managed to refrain and continued reading his post. A link to the post is here - https://peakd.com/hive-187719/@detlev/beersaturday-372.
The Beer Saturday Challenge which is, rather impressively, in its 372nd week invites people to share their favourite beers and accompany it with a short story. There are four prizes on offer which are drawn at random each week. The prizes you can win are a mixture of Hive, tokens and points. So I thought to myself share a story about my favourite beer and I might even win a prize - count me in!
Now then, I am a big fan of organic produce and am keen to make as much of my weekly grocery shop as organic as possible. I don't like chemicals in my food and drink, and organic produce usually tastes a lot nicer too.
It's not always easy to source organic food and drink as you can not always find organic versions of the items you're looking for. In addition organic produce always costs more, in some cases the cost can be considerably more, especially meats, fish, chocolate and alcohol. Which neatly brings me back to the Beer Saturday Challenge.
So, without any further hesitation my offering for this week's Beer Saturday Challenge is Organic German Pilsner Lager by Christoph Hald. The brand company is Vintage Roots.
This lager is a real beauty. It actually comes from the Bavarian region of Germany, which beer and lager connoisseurs will know of course is the birthplace of lager. One sip of this punchy number and you will instantly know why Germany still retains its reputation for producing the best lager on the planet. Not to say other countries don't do lager well, but when it comes to the Germans other countries have stiff competition.
Even the name of this lager is kept simple - Organic German Lager. And it's easy to see why they've kept it simple. Everything is in the taste, and that's all that matters. It has a very pleasant crisp taste, and not too sweet. The balance between bitter and sweet has been perfected. The clean taste you get when drinking this lager is purely down to its organic quality. It's made form organic hops, malt and water. This unique clean taste is something I've found you don't get with non-organic lagers and beers.
The lager is a little citrusy actually which gives it a really refreshing taste. Make sure it's chilled and this lager is ideal for summer drinking.
On the back of the bottle it, quite rightly, emphasises it's 'fruityness' which makes it an 'uplifting' lager to drink, I couldn't agree more. It is a delight to drink, surprisingly so.
If you're not going out with friends or taking your girlfriend out somewhere and you're having a night in, German Organic Lager by Christopher Hald is your perfect companion for the evening. That's really where I drink this very cheeky little number because I can't find it in pubs or restaurants, in fact there are very few pubs, clubs, cafes and restaurants who serve organic beers and lagers, or any other organic alcoholic drink for that matter. And this lager is definitely one for both the fellas and the ladies.
I have to salute the Bavarian Master Brewer Christoph Hald for making this perfect brew and sharing it with the world. This is a very uniquely thirst quenching lager so get on it.
Christoph makes this product from the little village of Dunstelkingen. If I am ever in the Bavarian region of Germany I will ensure I make a point of visiting the village and seeing if Christoph is around to share a beer or two!
Prost! Cheers!
Peace!
