Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun: round 183
Hey there my Hive friends and followers!
Welcome to the 183rd round of my special weekly photo challenge known as Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun :)
I know a lot of photo contests with nature as the main theme were/are/will be hosted by various people on the Hive blockchain but I wanted to come up with something more than just another photo contest where participants would submit their best natural photos. Therefore, I decided to go for quite an unusual concept that I am going to introduce in the following lines.
The aim of the Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun photo challenge is not to make you dig up your photo archives and submit the best pictures of nature that you have ever taken. Instead, I want you guys to go out and appreciate the beauty of our nature right now.
The internet (and the Hive blockchain as well) is flooded with picture perfect shots of landscapes, mountains, forests, beaches etc. taken years ago. But this is not what I want to see in this challenge. I want to see shots that may not be necessarily stunning but they must be fresh, proving that you have just physically spent some time outdoors in the fresh air. But remember that nature comes in many forms. It doesn´t have to be a pristine jungle or a deep remote forest. An urban park, a botanical garden, a little grove on the outskirts of your town - pretty much any place with some trees, plants, rocks, bodies of water or any other natural features would be just as fine ;)
Obviously, there is no way for me to verify whether the photo that you submit in the challenge is really fresh or if it was even taken by you so I am relying on your honesty guys. The prizes for the winners (as described below) are more symbolical than overly motivating so I don´t expect too much fraudulent behavior in this challenge anyway.
I want to keep the rules of this challenge as simple and benevolent as possible so let´s agree on just this:
Only one entry (photo) per person per round.
The photo must be yours and not older than one week.
Add a few words about the photo, at least where and when you took it.
You can start submitting your entries to this round in the comment section below from now until the next round. If you want to create a separate post as your entry, you can do that but please always remember to submit your entry in the form of a comment here in this post as well. I only check the entries submitted here as comments.
Prior to publishing the next round post, I will pick 3 winners, give my full upvote on their entries and feature them in the next round of the challenge. I also give some smaller upvotes on the other entries too so that all participants get rewarded for their engagement.
I usually host the challenge on Thursday but when needed for some reason, I can host it on some other day so better check my blog regularly not to miss out on it ;)
To keep up with you guys, I submit my own fresh natural photo to every round´s post too :) Here is my contribution to start out this round:
I was back to my Silesian hometown for a few days and as always, I made sure to also visit my mum who lives in the countryside. The closest forest is literally just some 10 minutes walk from her house and I went there to see if I could find some mushrooms but unfortunately, despite some impressive mushroom hunts by my friends in other parts of the country, I was not successful and I somehow even failed to take any pictures in the forest. But living in the countryside comes with the benefit of having nature all around you so to get a decent and fresh natural shot for this challenge, all I had to do was walk through the backyard gate into the adjacent fields and snap this close up of a sunflower. Yeah, there is one of our fellow Hive residents on it, working hard on its pollinating duty :) I took the image in rural Silesia, Czech Republic this Monday.
In the last round, we had 4 participants. After some thorough consideration, I decided to pick these 3 winners:
@franzpaulie with this entry from the Philippines:
Common grasshopper colours are usually brown and green and are everywhere. I don't usually take notice unless they are spectacular like this one :) Perhaps this kind only exists in Dobdob Santa Catalina, Negros Oriental, Philippines. Glad I hiked this weekend and found that insect in a rare colour. Though I'm not sure if that is common in other countries though.
@videoaddiction with this entry from Turkiye:
Hi @phortun mate. This is a place I run into on Wednesday. It is surrounded by woods and a creek flows. It is forbidden to enter there due to the fire risk. However, I could enter and took a photo. Wish I could have bbq :) Location: Istanbul, Türkiye.
@nenio with this entry from Chile:
The Atacama Desert (located at the north of Chile) is one of the most arid regions on Earth. It looks completely desolated and for the most part of it, no vegetation growths in this region. For these reasons, the images of this desert look like Mars. The photos that I share here were taken from an airplane, next to land in the city of Antofagasta.
Congratulations guys! It was my pleasure to give you 100% upvotes on your entries :)
I am looking forward to what you will come up with in this round.
Have fun and appreciate the beauty of nature!
I post this series in the Amazing Nature community, a great community for all nature lovers. Feel free to check it out ;)
The pictures look very beautiful
Nice one!
Kudos to everyone who jumped on that challenge
Thanks for checking out the winning collection from the last round.
On the beach Orikum in Albania, in a garden full of flowers, where I was swimming last week, I heard a loud buzzing that I followed with a glance. A large black bee caught my attention. I took a picture when bee landed on a flower. I have never seen such an insect before and I have read more details about this species on the Internet.
I am left with a nice picture and the knowledge I gained from reading the wikipedia article: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xylocopa_violacea
As you wrote, I have beautiful pictures of nature, but most of them are more than a week old :-)
Hey there, welcome to the challenge! As far as I remember, this is the first ever entry from Albania here! Very nice close up, thank you :)
Thanks.
If there are any more challenges without the condition that the pictures are "fresh", I have a lot of nice pictures from this vacation for phenomenal stories :-)
Oh yeah, there are many photo contests on Hive. My buddy @friendlymoose posts a list of them every week, check it out ;)
Here we have a lizard that looks like my cats want to hunt it, so it takes refuge in the cracks of the walls to survive the relentless cat empire 🤣
Taken by a live cell phone1938
This is what it says about the cell phone system 🤔.
Well, just a tiny bit of nature in this shot but I can see it so all good :) Now we just need to know where (location) and when (to make sure it´s not older than 7 days) you took the picture. Thank you.
It was about 20 days ago, I don't know if it was more than 20 days ago.
(I don't know if the lizard 🦎 is still alive).
I just wanted to share the image
The pictures are spontaneous and ephemeral.
Fue hace como 20 días nosé si más dias
(Nosé si la lagartija 🦎 siga viva)
Solo quise compartir la imagen
Las fotografías son espontánea y efímera
Ok, thanks for being honest. Then, however, I need to ask you for a fresher picture because only photos that are not older than 7 days can be accepted here as valid entries :) Thanks for understanding.
When I see an opportunity to take something inspirational I will do it
(other than another cat victim).
Awesome, thanks :)
Thanks!
You are welcome! The quality of your photos has been increasing! :)
I found this insect this afternoon in my backyard (Indonesia. aceh) , the large area with long grass is the best place to look for macrophotography objects, and among the few images I got, this type of insect is the most interesting to look at, I have edited the image using lightrhoom to make it look even more beautiful
Wow! That´s an amazing detail. Thank you for this great entry :)
Thanks also for the response🍻
@phortun thanks for selecting my photo.

This is the picture I have taken from soon valley. I am here for my summer vacations. I want to capture sunset here but didn't get a good camera result here. I have to zoom my camera and then click the picture.
Sunrise and sunset here is really represent an attractive scenery.
Thanks for your entry. Where and when you took the picture?
I click this picture yesterday in evening when I was strolling near the home of my aunt. Its a small village where some Peoples have settled their homes on mountains.
I took a trip four days ago. To the water reservoir Lobnik .

Here my entry to round 183!!!!
Title: "Good morning Mr. Photographer".
A butterfly of the genus Adelpha landed on my arm during a hike in the mountains north of town (Montalban, Carabobo, Venezuela) on the morning of 23-Aug-2023. They are very nervous butterflies and because of that I was surprised that this one wanted to say "good morning" ;-) . As soon as I approached my hand, it proceeded to climb on my fingers and to palpate them with its proboscis... I took a lot of pictures of her and have brought this one to share with you!
Wow! What a lovely and close encounter! Fantastic entry, thank you :)
Thanks to you dear friend!... And have a great weekend! ;)

I am not able to go out anywhere because the government has issued a red alert for the storm. Next time I will definitely participate in this amazing contest.
I´m sorry to hear about your situation. Has the storm passed already? I hope it didn´t cause much damage... Anyway, you are always welcome in this challenge :)
Thank you for your well wishes, the storm is not over yet. This year there has been more loss than the rest of the years. I hope the situation will be normal soon.
Many many congratulations to the winners.

Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun: round 183
Good evening....
Here is a photo from tonight's walk.
I was walking in the forest of Deliblatska peščara, I started a little late and I was caught by dusk in the forest.....there were few clouds, the darkness was advancing quickly... it was already a bit creepy when I was coming back... While the sky was darkening, a full moon appeared above the forest...
My sister and I quickened our pace, to reach the village of Šušare as soon as possible....🤭😉
Thanks for your entry Suzana! The place looks still quite peaceful in this shot but I know how fast it can change when it gets dark hehe :) Greetings to Serbia!
My pleasure @phortun ☀️
Yes, it is very peaceful and quiet. Hehe... only those who have experienced it understand that...🙂
Thanks a lot ☀️
Greetings 🌸
Hey dear friend @phortun
Here is my entry for round 183
Here is the photo I took yesterday of the 40m waterfall in Mang Canh commune, Kon Plong district.
Wow! Stunning shot. Thanks for sharing it with us in this challenge :) Good to see you here again btw.
Yeah @phortun
I'm happy to be here again.
Have a nice day.
We were strolling around Balanan Lake, Siaton Negros Oriental, Philippines, two days ago and found this cutie moth hanging on balete tree roots. I'm surprised it got horns.
Wow, another stunning insect close up from you :) Thanks!
