Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun: round 184
Hey there my Hive friends and followers!
Welcome to the 184th round of my special weekly photo challenge known as Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun :)
I know a lot of photo contests with nature as the main theme were/are/will be hosted by various people on the Hive blockchain but I wanted to come up with something more than just another photo contest where participants would submit their best natural photos. Therefore, I decided to go for quite an unusual concept that I am going to introduce in the following lines.
The aim of the Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun photo challenge is not to make you dig up your photo archives and submit the best pictures of nature that you have ever taken. Instead, I want you guys to go out and appreciate the beauty of our nature right now.
The internet (and the Hive blockchain as well) is flooded with picture perfect shots of landscapes, mountains, forests, beaches etc. taken years ago. But this is not what I want to see in this challenge. I want to see shots that may not be necessarily stunning but they must be fresh, proving that you have just physically spent some time outdoors in the fresh air. But remember that nature comes in many forms. It doesn´t have to be a pristine jungle or a deep remote forest. An urban park, a botanical garden, a little grove on the outskirts of your town - pretty much any place with some trees, plants, rocks, bodies of water or any other natural features would be just as fine ;)
Obviously, there is no way for me to verify whether the photo that you submit in the challenge is really fresh or if it was even taken by you so I am relying on your honesty guys. The prizes for the winners (as described below) are more symbolical than overly motivating so I don´t expect too much fraudulent behavior in this challenge anyway.
I want to keep the rules of this challenge as simple and benevolent as possible so let´s agree on just this:
Only one entry (photo) per person per round.
The photo must be yours and not older than one week.
Add a few words about the photo, at least where and when you took it.
You can start submitting your entries to this round in the comment section below from now until the next round. If you want to create a separate post as your entry, you can do that but please always remember to submit your entry in the form of a comment here in this post as well. I only check the entries submitted here as comments.
Prior to publishing the next round post, I will pick 3 winners, give my full upvote on their entries and feature them in the next round of the challenge. I also give some smaller upvotes on the other entries too so that all participants get rewarded for their engagement.
I usually host the challenge on Thursday but when needed for some reason, I can host it on some other day so better check my blog regularly not to miss out on it ;)
To keep up with you guys, I submit my own fresh natural photo to every round´s post too :) Here is my contribution to start out this round:
The past couple of days have been unusually cold and cloudy here in the Czech Republic, which was actually perfectly fine with me after the last heatwave that lasted for almost two weeks. I went for a little walk to some of my favorite natural places here in the Prague neighborhood of Stodulky yesterday. The temperature was just around some 15 degrees Celsius but strangely enough, there was no wind at all. On windless days like these, you can enjoy some beautiful reflections on lakes and ponds. Those featured above are from the Asuan Water Reservoir that is located just in front of the Prokop Valley. In just a few weeks though, all the lush greenery will start to turn in the autumnal colors. The summer will soon be gone here :(
In the last round, we had 11 participants. After some thorough consideration, I decided to pick these 3 winners:
@jlinaresp with this entry from Venezuela:
Here my entry to round 183! Title: "Good morning Mr. Photographer". A butterfly of the genus Adelpha landed on my arm during a hike in the mountains north of town (Montalban, Carabobo, Venezuela) on the morning of 23-Aug-2023. They are very nervous butterflies and because of that I was surprised that this one wanted to say "good morning" ;-) As soon as I approached my hand, it proceeded to climb on my fingers and to palpate them with its proboscis. I took a lot of pictures of her and have brought this one to share with you!
@dodovietnam with this entry from Vietnam:
Hey dear friend @phortun. Here is my entry for round 183. Here is the photo I took yesterday of the 40m waterfall in the Mang Canh Commune, Kon Plong District in Vietnam.
@roronoa46 with this entry from Indonesia:
I found this insect this afternoon in my backyard (Indonesia, Aceh) , the large area with long grass is the best place to look for macrophotography objects, and among the few images I got, this type of insect is the most interesting to look at, I have edited the image using Lightroom to make it look even more beautiful.
Congratulations guys! It was my pleasure to give you 100% upvotes on your entries :)
I am looking forward to what you will come up with in this round.
Have fun and appreciate the beauty of nature!
I post this series in the Amazing Nature community, a great community for all nature lovers. Feel free to check it out ;)
Beautiful nature scenary 💚💐 peacefully view 😍
Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see an entry from you in this round too :)
A team of strong and knowledgeable people has been selected here. Excellent work in terms of quality and content. Natural landscapes and insect photos look amazing, the quality of the shooting, the angles for photographing and the pleasant colors are impressive. Many thanks to you as the organizer of the contest and to all the participants of the contest, for your work and positive content. All creative success and have a nice day 🙏
Thank you very much for this nice and valuable feedback. The last round was strong indeed, many great entries :)
These photos looks amazing you captured outstanding specially the butterfly pictures looks great🦋
I didn´t take those insect photos. Our winners did. It´s all written in the post, maybe you can sometimes try to actually read the post that you comment on...
LOL 😂 The amount of times I want to respond like this and bite myself in the tongue. People very much prefer to scroll and only read short form content these days 🤷🏻♀️
Heh, you are right, but this particular user is a pretty "famous" comment farmer so I have no scruples to reply like that ;)
Oh really? Never had the ‘pleasure’ of seeing that user before. I guess that’s why the Ecency leaderboard now only shows 46 out of 50 top users. They probably remove the bad actors.
Yeah, there are quite a lot of these people here. They mostly comment on posts that show up on the trending page, usually without reading them. I got a fair share of comment farmers visiting my posts in the past too and I didn´t pay much attention to them until the day when I wrote a pretty long post about the Plaszow Concentration Camp in Krakow (I know you are from Poland, I´m a Czech but I lived in Krakow for 2 years). I wrote the post with the utmost respect to tragic history of the site, even put all the photos into monochrome etc. And then, these ignorants came again, dropping comments like "wow, cool post bro", "amazing pictures" etc... This is what really triggered me and since then, I have been replying (bitingly enough) to these people so that they know that their behavior is not ok...
How do you know I’m Polish? 😁
I see, that explains it. I’d be pissed as well. To be honest, it made me laugh that comment of yours, because that’s something I would usually do and on previous platforms I posted I often made remarks like yours to the comments I received. One time I managed to catch someone who made a post about how people are not reading and making unrelated comments, commenting on mine’s in the same way. It was very satisfying and a little funny too.
Here, on hive my articles are seldom in the trending page, so I guess that’s why I don’t get many of those, just genuine interaction with people I made friends with. I do however see those types of comments on other people’s articles. Keep up the cleaning duties mate ☺️

I browsed your blog when you submitted your entry here, I usually do that with new participants to see who they are :) So I know that you are a Polish living in England :) That´s cool btw. I was a Czech living in... quite a lot of different places. But currently back to my homeland ;)
Spontaneous, organic, friendly engagement is the best kind of engagement you can have on your posts. Glad to hear that you have it on yours :) Cheers from Prague!
Ahh, that’s a nice thing to do to get to know new people. I’ve been living in England for 18 years now and this year is the first year when the thoughts started popping up in my head about coming back home. Not sure what’s up, maybe some sort of mid-life crisis 🤷🏻♀️ I suddenly started to feel a little lonely here.
I tried living in Netherlands for a year too, but I didn’t like it there much.
It’s cool to live in other countries. That’s how we broaden our horizons, so it’s good to hear you tried that too ☺️ Any more plans to live elsewhere or are you settled back home now?
Sorry to hear that you started to feel lonely in England. I actually get this homesick feel too, usually after a year or so of being in a foreign country. I start to miss my family, my friends, my hometown... all the things that I miss out on because I´m far away. But after being back home for a couple of weeks or so, I quickly start to feel the urge to travel and explore again. Weird, I know :)
Well, now, we are in a very new situation. Me and my wife are expecting a baby girl so we had to settle down a bit and will most probably stay in our homeland for at least a few years...
Totally get it. When I first came to England I felt homesick after each visit, so I stopped going back home to Poland 3-4 times a year and limited it to 1-2 visits. It helped.
Thing is that these days I don’t have that many friends back home anyway. I kept in touch with just a couple, so there is not much that I want to got back to, just many closures here in UK made me rethink my life I guess.
Ahh yes, arrival of the baby surely changes a lot of things and the lifestyle too. All the best ☺️💙
Thank you :) I hope you will make the right decision, whether it will be staying in the UK or returning back to your original homeland. I love Poland. Those 2 years that I spent in Krakow were amazing.
Aww, that’s lovely to hear ☺️ There are so many beautiful places in Poland that I’ve never visited, but I’ve been to Krakow a few times and I loved it too 🥰
I’ll need to stay here for couple year at least to sort out all my unfinished things, so I have some time to ponder. Definitely don’t wanna make any rushed decisions just cause I feel a bit low 😉

That’s a nice and easy challenge for me to participate. I take nature pictures every day during my walks and in my garden.
This one here was taken yesterday. I went for my usual lunchtime walk around the neighbouring streets and marina. I sat down on the bench with my colleagues towards the and of my walk and I noticed a few more Dahlia flowers just opened up their blooms and no matter how often I see them or picture them, they always blow my mind with their perfectly shaped by the nature balls of blooms, showing the beautiful Fibonacci spiral 💙
Location: England
Hey there, welcome to the challenge! That´s a stunning close up, thank you :) Can you just add the location please? Doesn´t have to be too specific, name of the country would do ;)
Hi, thank you ☺️ It’s England. I’ll edit my comment to reflect this.
Awesome, thanks :)

Another amazing round supported by @phortun, congratulations to the three winners, and this time I will participate with a photo taken three days ago when at my home here in western Romania there was a storm that sometimes looked like a tornado, from what I've noticed lately we have been experiencing such phenomena, probably the climate is in a process of change.
The picture was taken in the afternoon being very cloudy outside and low light the picture didn't come out great, sorry about that.
Very interesting cloud formations, thanks for this cool entry my friend! Same here in my country (again). We never had tornadoes here until a few years ago. This year, we already had a few of them too. Crazy! The climate change is as real as it gets and yet some people still deny it...
I participate with great pleasure every time in the contests launched by you and yes, it seems that the climate is constantly changing, but not for the better.
Here’s an entry taken yesterday in our garden in Petchaburi, Thailand, using my iphone. We have finally entered the rainy season, which really took its time this year. This means regular heavy showers in the afternoon and plenty of sparkling droplets left on the banana leaves.
Man, it has been ages since we had an entry from Thailand here in this challenge so thank you very much! :) Very cool close up btw. Greetings from Prague!
Congrats to the winners!
Thanks for checking out their entries mate! :)
Hi @phortun mate
This is the photo of Maidens Tower (Turkish: Kız Kulesi), which is located in the Bosphorus. You can reach it by ferry in a few mins, also take photo from the seaside in Üsküdar district of İstanbul. I took it this week.
Well, not as much nature as usually in your pictures but definitely a great shot. Thanks for your submission :)
I think you wouldn't say so if saw it for yourself ;)
Lovely Zatorek Lake on the outskirts of Wolinski National Park on Wolin Island, Northern Poland. Taken 10minutes ago. Now I'm on my way to see the tallest cliffs in Poland.
Hola Przemek! :) A lovely lake indeed. Thanks for your contribution to the challenge, I hope that you enjoyed the cliffs too :)
It is truly admirable how you navigate through your packed schedules finding time to appreciate the beauty of nature often. I find myself become lazy bum recently, it's not like me before lol, no good no good :) Here the spring arrives and it's getting warmer, I plan to go out more often and be more active again :)
Great shots as always @phortun and here is my entry, the pic was taken today at Altona beach in Melbourne 10 mins driving from mine. It's still a bit cold in the morning and night; however, he winter finally gone :)
Hope you're doing well and have a great week ahead :)
Hey Trang! What a nice surprise :) Well, it can be hard to find some pleasure in outdoor activities in winter, I know that too well, so no worries, I´m sure that now with the approaching spring in your hemisphere, you will be more activate and more "outdoorsy" again ;) Thanks for this great entry and lovely greeting from the Land Down Under! :)
From my hiking trip yesterday to one of my favorite forests, near the mount "Dürrenstein" in Lower Austria, I had written about this already here.
Wow, that´s an amazing shot! Looks like a fairy tale forest :) Great entry, thank you!
The sea lions are common animals at the sea side of the city of Antofagasta. At the fisherman port and the historical pier we can find some families of these sea mammals. They live there due to the abundance of fish from the fisherman boats.
These animals take possession of some of the surrounding areas. In the photo you can see the alpha male taking care of the group.

Wow! Look at these magnificent beasts! Fascinating animals. Thank you :) I´m going to check out the post now too...
Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun: round 184
A visit to Montenegro, a little vacation and enjoying the coastal climate and the smell of pine trees by the coast.... I caught this scene yesterday, while I was exploring the way to a beach, which was hidden among pine trees, which reached the coast itself.. ..
A view of Sutomore, where I am currently staying 🥰
No sunflowers from you in this round? Hehe, just kidding, this scenery is amazing! :) Thanks for your entry and enjoy your holiday!
Hehehe..nooo..
Not this time, although I saw a sunflower along the road 🤭
Yes, the view is amazing.. Wherever I am, I find somewhere to climb.... 😉And there are a few climbing places around here... I've explored everything 🤭
Thank you so much.... ☀️🌸
Beautiful compilation of photos! very good quality of the participants.
Thanks for checking them out :)

Hola amiga! Really? You didn´t know about this contest? That´s interesting, I have been hosting it every single week for more than 3 years already :D Anyway, I´m glad that you joined us in this round, that´s a nice entry and I will make sure to check out the post as well ;) Thank you!
Hi mate @phortun
Today on 6th September 2023,I have captured this beautiful photo. The place is government offices in hafizabad city. The city is 16km away from my home. Just the leaves of plants and trees were making noise.
