What do we do now?
The young group of herons had reached that lonely beach when a storm separated them from the rest of the flock flying north.
They were there, disoriented and recovering from wind damage to their wings.
And now, what do we do?" asked Lito, the youngest of the group, as he looked at the cold sea, whose waves were coming and going to the shore.
"We can't despair," Manuel replied. "Something will occur to us".
"I am hungry". Said Merci, we should fish.
"You are crazy!," Lito replied. "The orcas would eat us. Look there; you can see their shadows".
"But we need to eat to regain our strength", replied Merci, annoyed by Lito's answer*.
"Wait a minute; we can't go into the sea like this; we don't know what's waiting for us in there". Manuel was cautious and felt responsible for the group.
"Let's do one thing: I'm going into the sea, and Pedro and Luis will accompany me".
The three brave men flew over the calm but dark surface of the sea. They could not see the fish. Only a large and even darker shadow wandered from one side to the other. Manuel made a decision to help his friends; he would sacrifice himself to drive away the shadow that was stalking them. He entered the sea in a dive to attract the attention of the shadow, while the rest quickly began to fish.
Manuel entered the water and found himself face-to-face with a huge whale that was trying to help its calf that was trapped in the calm waters of the bay. It looked like a whale.
Manuel told him, "We are going to help you; this is why we had to be on this beach".
The whole flock helped the little one get out of the sands and algae that kept him trapped, and he was able to survive and continue the journey with his mother.
And they recovered, and they were very happy to have helped save the baby whale. They waited for the right moment to continue their journey and meet their flock.
I invite @kei2 and @iskawrites to participate.
I love that they have helped a baby whale in your story!
Thank you very much @zythia13. The herons were supportive🐳
I wondered what all these egrets were all standing there for! They were waiting to be heros!
Nice comment! That's what your picture inspired me 🤗
