Three Tune Tuesday - Week 160: "My special musical contest"
Today I feel in a particularly nostalgic, sweet, mellow and special mood. And for the same reason today I'm feeling inclined to launch a lovely contest in which I will present the winner with 10 voluptuous Hives of prize straight from my opulently pauper wallet.
Yep, I understand that just two and a half dollars may not be such an exuberantly attractive sum that you would kill to participate. But if you analyze it well, you will notice that $2.50 dollars coming from my impoverished wallet would proportionally represent no less than $250 dollars if you compare them with what you occasionally but very rarely you would get from participating in other musical contests that take place in our ecosystem. Besides, I won't pay them in HBD but directly in Hive. Which is a token much more difficult to obtain from long time ago. So, think like a numismatic collector.
And to reassure you and encourage you to participate. I could also tell you, although I don't promise anything, that apart from the first succulent prize of my 10 Hives. It is very possible that you could get double those 10 Hives in upvotes and even up to those elusive $250 dollars if it occurs to me looking for support contacting those rich guys who sponsor those other music contests on our blockchain and which are tighter in terms of competition.
Alright, once the details of the contest prize have been clarified and also hinted the size of the wheelbarrow that you will need to bring here to carry home the Hives of the prize. Let's now describe in what exactly the contest consists of. Are you ready?
Great! well, as I said before, today I feel a bit nostalgic and mellow. And today on its fifty-fifth anniversary. I started listening repeatedly to a very beautiful and popular song from the late 60s. A classic slow & soft rock song that I really love and it brings back many memories and experiences from my time. Since I got tired of dancing it embraced very tightly with as many cute young girls that crossed my path in many parties.
So the contest consists of the following. This consists of two parts:
Below you will find 10 different versions of this famous song. Each one performed by distinct interpreters. And as this is a gorgeous, famous and classic soft rock song that has been covered by thousands of performers and bands over the years. For this contest I tried to choose much less known versions but that seem wonderful, extraordinary and excellently well executed to me.
So, this first phase of the contest simply consists of you choosing from the 10 the one that you liked the most and then leave testimony of your choice below in the comments section.In this second phase is where the real meat of the contest is found. Since those who dare to participate in this second part are the ones who truly will risk winning the potential $250 dollars of the contest. Since to do this you will have to record yourself on video performing and interpreting a version of this song live.
You can choose to perform the song singing accompanied by one or several instruments as you will notice in the videos from the seventh to the tenth below.
Although if you are not a singer, an instrumental version is also allowed as long as it is an original arrangement with an unusual instrument or one that shows a special virtuosity with a regular instrument as guitar or keyboards like the one shown in the tenth video.
And so you can see that I really intend that someone win the prize of this contest. In the end you will see that I have done everything possible to facilitate your participation whether you sing or not or have an instrument or not. Since in the last three videos you will find a karaoke type video so that those who only sing can use it to rehearse the song and also participate in the contest using this same soundtrack.
And the last two final videos. So that both, musicians and guitarists, who know how to read sheet music and tablatures learn to play the song and have no excuse as to not participate. Okay, and now first things first. Choose your favorite cover/version!

Hey! No one ever said my contests were easy to win. So, first I must state a few important details about some minimum requirements that must be met before I release my precious 10 Hives:
If there is no quorum. That is, if we do not manage to attract at least two or more competitors from which to choose the winner. The contest will be void and without a prize winner.
If this is the case. Then we could choose to extend the contest period for another week until we reach that minimum of two competitors from which to choose a winner. Since in principle the contest is scheduled to last only one week.
Nonetheless, whether you sing or not, whether you play an instrument or not, whether you participate in the contest or not. Last but not least. A brief anecdote about the history of this beautiful song for those who are interested.
This famous and popular song came to light for the first time on June 7, 1969 in a live outdoor concert offered by the band of luminaries Blind Faith in Hyde Park, London. Whose members were nothing more and nothing less than:
- Steve Winwood – lead vocals, keyboards, guitar
- Eric Clapton – guitar, vocals
- Ric Grech – bass, violin
- Ginger Baker – drums, percussion
By which barely 11 days ago it celebrated its fifty-fifth anniversary and hence my celebration with this contest. A public musical event that fortunately was filmed and of which to close this post right here I will leave the audiovisual testimony here below.
