Gaming Photography Challenge: My Best Picks from Games!

Hello and Welcome back to my blog!

This Week's Contest theme by the Gaming Photography Community is Your Best Picks and I am here to share with you many shots from various games. So, without wasting any more time let's get straight to them.

No Man's Sky

The first game I will share some shots from is No Man's Sky. I love to just explore the huge universe in this game that features a lot of unique and interesting planets.

Look at that pink hue on this planet. Each planet has its themes and this one looked like it had a lot of upside down trunks as planet life.

There are so many filters available in the photo mode as well and playing with them gives you very unique feel.

It is hard to believe that the entire universe with trillions of planets is procedurally generated by the game so almost every random planet you visit is uncharted by any other player. Gives you a great sense of discovery. Ringed planets are my favourites as the shots come out beautiful, especially at night.

One of the best I took was this shot of the ringed planet where the rings reflect sunlight making it a perfect subject that grabs your attention quickly.

The only complaint I have about the photo mode in this game is you can't change the poses afterwards. So, you have to change the pose and quickly use the photo mode before the pose wears off. The poses are not too bad. Look at this next one, sitting on top of a bulbous plant.

Elden Ring

Let's move on to the next game. I will just share one shot from this game. This one is my favourite so far. It is a view of a massive castle. Enough to intimidate anyone with its sheer size and scale... once you see it, you know the challenge is going to be epic.

This is exactly why I love to capture these shots. Everyone tells a story in itself, an emotion that can be felt from this shot easily. A lowly tarnished against a mighty castle full of enemies?

Minecraft

I will move on to another game now, some people think it has bad blocky graphics. I am talking about Minecraft. But even with limited graphics, you can have a great composition just like the next shot. I love the composition of this shot. The reflection of houses on the lake along with a dark environment with just a few torches lighting up each house.

Ghost of Tsushima

Let's move on to Ghost of Tsushima, it has one of the best visuals in the gaming industry. I am so impressed by the art-style in this game. They went for a vivid stylistic approach and they pulled it off so well.

It has incredible terrain and, a dynamic weather system which keeps the visuals fresh and a really satisfying combat. Not to mention the best Photo Mode I have experienced in games so far which is capable of taking shots like the following.

Love to ride my horse in those grasslands and stand-offs against Mongol enemies here. Once you liberate an outpost, sometimes you will see our hero taking a rest along with the horse. Love it!

I can ride my horse for hours in these beautiful pampas grasslands. There are many hidden secrets in the world too so exploration is rewarding as well.

Uncharted 4: A Theif's End

Let's have a look at the next and last game for today. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. This game has amazing visuals as well but this one is more of an action-adventure story-driven title, not an open-world game like above. Which kind of has an advantage over the open world. They can have set pieces and make it more interesting and place every thing by hand and not randomize anything.

This game has some of the best pacing in the industry. It won't let you be bored with just one thing, puzzles, exploration, combat, cutscenes, and driving are all weaved together beautifully so you are not doing any one of these things for a long time. And if you add beautiful visuals along with some nice pacing, you have a great game like this.

All of the games I have shared have amazing graphics and I just keep an eye out for good scenes to take shots of. Let me know which one is your favourite.

Thanks for reading.

Until next shot...

I played most of these and it brings back good memories even though I didn't finish any of them, if only I had more times to fully get into some games again.
