Below the Water Surface Experience in Subnautica
Hi all! I finally found motivation to join the Hive community! This is my first time posting here, at the same time this will be my contribution to the Gaming Photography Weekly Contest with the Theme: Water Experience. This topic almost screams for one of my favorite games: Subnautica. So let's dive in!
The atmosphere in this game is breathtaking, especially when you dive for the first time and then look up to feel the sheer volume of water above you.
The lightning in this game is just beautiful and gives you the feeling of being far below the water surface. for the full experience, just imagine the sound of water, air bubbles and breathing with the help of a scuba tank! In the following two pictures I tried to convey the cozy feeling between the aquatic plants.
I had the impression that the mood in the photo is much more intense if you also capture your own flippers.
I love the little fish in the left corner of the last picture. Imagine being a fish hiding in the leaves:
In order to find some more colorful regions I left the hydrophytes ...
... going deeper into the ocean.
While leaving the red grass behind and following the giant fishes, I found myself in a cave, where almost all the light came from fluorescence and bioluminescence.
Here, I tried to also capture the hands on the screenshot, which requires good timing as the protagonist permanently uses them to swim or keep balance.
The different biomes in the game are really fun to explore. Some of them can be scary since you never know what is waiting for you in the deep.
It can be overwhelming when you can no longer see the surface of the water and enter a cave while always having an eye on the oxygen supply.
Sometimes, it needs just one little fish to keep your confidence up!
In the end, I returned to my starting point. In the meantime, night had fallen ...
... and the moon shimmered through the surface of the water.
Even at night the ocean offers plenty to discover and unfolds its magical atmosphere.
I stayed in the shallower water to catch the first rays of sunshine.
Good morning!
I took some more nice shots in this area:
Here, I waited until the air bubbles of the diving regulator became visible to take this amazing shot:
Another place that exudes incredible tranquillity:
There, I also found this little guy who looks like he's up to something:
It was actually difficult to photograph these fish in front of a targeted background, as most of them move quite quickly.
After swimming around for a few more minutes, I took one last snapshot before I had to admit to myself that I had spent too much time in this wonderful world again.
I hope you enjoyed this little journey into the depths of the ocean from Subnautica!
Best!
Welcome to hive. But a new account just to join our contest? Should we feel lucky?
Thanks! Well, why create an account and then not post?
Indeed, they are really great shots and the game's 10/10 biomes are among the few games that, despite their horror aesthetics, one feels more fascination for what will be found under the sea.
Thank you! I also liked the survival aspect and in particular the exploration with limited air supply. I'm really looking forward to the second part.
