I haven't thought about that, and it makes a lot of sense. Like, knowing that the other person will do what they say they'll do, and knowing their values and how they behave safes us a lot of misunderstandings and problems.

I'll still put my guard but give them a chance to prove they've changed

Kind of. I don't cut them out of my life, but I never open up to them again, basically I don't give second chances 😂
