Qurator's Mischievous Mondays | Frost Forward

Welcome to Qurator's Mischievous Mondays!

This will be a weekly competition that we will be hosting every Monday. We want to see a little more engagement and fun when it comes to some of our competitions so this will be a simpler and shorter competition. Easy to enter, but maybe not so easy to win. ;) This competition will be similar to the Monday Missions we had a long time ago, but instead of writing posts to enter we will now consider only the comments and answers on this blog as your entry to win.

Why Mischievous?

We all could use a little fun in our lives. We would even say that we deserve it, let loose a little and have a go at making everyone laugh or think a little, even if it is a little over the top or pure silliness. Go all out and let your creative juices flow.

This week's theme : Frost Forward

Each day, the world cools down by one degree Celsius. Detail your strategies for coping with the increasingly icy conditions. How would you ensure your survival and that of those around you as the cold creeps in day by day?

The world is cooling by 1 degree Celsius every day, what can be done? Well, such a drastic change only leads us to think one thing: we are all going to die, and after a few months, there will be nothing left to do. But the survival instinct speaks louder, and some measures could be taken to prolong my life and my family's. So, why not try?

One of the first things I would try to do is move to one of the world's poles. This might seem like a foolish idea, why not stay in a tropical country? The answer is simple: a tropical country, with its vegetation and wildlife, would be among the first to succumb to such extreme conditions. The best chances of survival would certainly be in a place that already has a naturally cold climate.

It would be a great challenge to adapt to a completely different way of life and climate, but I would study the best strategies to face this new frozen world. Equipment and knowledge would be my greatest allies, and learning how natives survived during the Ice Age would be essential. I don’t think there would be many alternatives beyond these, and in my opinion, the options would be very limited in a world with this new scenario. That’s why my bet would be to migrate to a place more likely to experience fewer impacts.

I would move to some old underground tunnels. I don't know some exact locations yet so should study first. I would prepare myself for a life underground. The ground above me will be a natural form of isolation. Inside the earth, there will still be warmth.

That way, I wouuld survive the cold. Getting access to enough supplies and being able to grow food without sunlight will probably be the hardest part 🤔

If the world gets cold, I'm sure I wouldn't make it, they would find me freezing to death, I can imagine the cramps, my whole body numb and possibly delirious, I don't think there is a person who can withstand as much cold as penguins. However, if there is time to find shelter, food and adequate clothing to withstand the cold, I could possibly survive.

Being sensitive to the cold I would not like that moment to come, but if I have to live the experience I would have to adapt and wear appropriate clothing to protect me from the cold.

We were never worried about keeping my family and me warm. Quite the opposite. The heat was overwhelming, consuming us, lifting us up, letting us fall, shaking us from left to right, up and down, swirling us around, and leaving us every day with our tongues hanging out, our eyelids half-open or half-closed, which is the same thing. Yes, we looked like drug addicts after consuming high doses, and no, we weren't porn stars or crazy, orgy-fueled rockers.

Birds migrate in winter in search of warm spots and fleeing the harsh cold that makes everything difficult for them.

We, my family and I, if we could have, would have emigrated, in search of the cold, in search of not feeling like ice cream in the middle of the desert, melting, and not from the touch of a tongue, slowly thawing like a refrigerator without power, like a jellyfish on the sand, like butter in an oven, like wax on a lit candle... anyway... I think you get the point, right?

And we would have, yes, before becoming millionaires, but the power of money was stronger than a couple of eggs boiling in hot water, than a torrent of profuse sweat in the middle of a blackout night. Yes, it was stronger, because we weren't millionaires yet, but we would be soon. We would be millionaires, because our home was our treasure, because our island was the paradise destination desired by the rest of the world, because our little oven with palm trees would be the last place where the temperature would drop drastically, and scientists indicated that, for some miraculous reason, it might be the only place where it wouldn't happen.
What wouldn't happen?

Don't you know? It's all over the news. Global temperatures are falling precipitously, and there's no turning back or way to fix it. A state of alarm was declared.

Every man for himself! Was what they failed to say, but that's how it was. The world's creativity to survive was being put to the test.

Us? We didn't have to do anything; we owned the heat island, the natural microwave, the safest place in the world from the cold. Yep, we just had to prepare our entire warm, immense natural hotel to welcome all the guests who would soon arrive. We'd be rich!!! Millionaires!!!

Our survival was assured, with opulence, with riches, with air conditioning in every room. Yes, I could already see myself and feel myself in the middle of the jacuzzi with a glass of champagne in my hand, totally relaxed...

Paco!!!! Paco!!!!

Hey, you fell asleep on top of the soup bowl. You were doing and saying weird things about the end of the world, the cold, that we'd be millionaires...
What happened, Paco????

Oh, no, old lady... nothing...

Why did you wake me up, you damn old lady? 😭😭😭😭.

THE END.😉😁

The reversal of the Earth's magnetic poles ended up becoming the beginning of humanity's extinction. This natural process unexpectedly accelerated the cooling of the planet's core. The planet's frozen regions began to gain territory, part of the sea began to freeze, and the white continent became a weapon that is swallowing all life. Foreseeing such situations, some human beings began to buy and adapt underground facilities to protect against the intense cold that was to come. After obtaining privileged information, I dedicated a large part of my fortune to acquiring a place in the Underground City of Montreal. The place was built so that the people of the region could survive the extreme winter. While all humans aware of the information about the end of the world prepared themselves, humanity survived day by day. "Ignorance is a gift." The people who were aware of the dark future spent day and night working on structures, generators, food reserves, and containment strategies that could minimize the cold that was to come. After a year of research, the devastating news arrived: the planet's inner core was barely producing heat, and the Earth's temperature would drop drastically, by about 1ºC per day. The information was leaked and spread worldwide. Desperation led people to commit illegal acts of all kinds, but the real disaster was yet to come. Places that had a daily average of 35ºC were now at a freezing temperature of 5ºC after a month. People were turning into ice statues. 95% of humans had ceased to exist before the planet's temperature reached negative temperatures. Although I was worried about the people of the world, was living in the inner parts of the planet with my family. The walls were lined with thick layers of metal, an area with food for about 100 years, and some heating devices, as well as rechargeable power generators using mechanical force. At first, everything was fine, but we lost track of time. I don't know if it was weeks or months that had passed, but the cold caught up with us, the heaters started to fail over time, there wasn't much motivation to produce energy for the generator, breathing started to get labored, even with several layers of clothing I couldn't distinguish what I was touching, everything was cold, extremely cold, my mind was slow... In a last breath before succumbing to the cold, I asked myself: is this the end of humanity?

I believe that nature is so wise that it would be enough to copy the strategies of animals. For example, buying non-perishable food to avoid having to go out frequently on cold days could be an option, just as ants do during spring/summer.
Placing yourself in a homeworking style job would also help to avoid exposure to harsh weather conditions. And in the case of studying, there are also already many options to do it online, even at the elementary level.
In my case, I would do the bear strategy: stock up enough to be able to hibernate, and discard the aesthetic canons of the female figure, because what's the point of being a Greek Venus if I end up freezing to death?
