Qurator's Mischievous Mondays | Survival Sanctuary
Welcome to Qurator's Mischievous Mondays!
This will be a weekly competition that we will be hosting every Monday. We want to see a little more engagement and fun when it comes to some of our competitions so this will be a simpler and shorter competition. Easy to enter, but maybe not so easy to win. ;) This competition will be similar to the Monday Missions we had a long time ago, but instead of writing posts to enter we will now consider only the comments and answers on this blog as your entry to win.
Why Mischievous?
We all could use a little fun in our lives. We would even say that we deserve it, let loose a little and have a go at making everyone laugh or think a little, even if it is a little over the top or pure silliness. Go all out and let your creative juices flow.
This week's theme : Survival Sanctuary

A zombie apocalypse huh? Well, my most ideal hide out will be a full size shopping mall with groceries and departmental stores Why is that so? I will have enough supply to feed myself for several weeks and probably eat enough high calories food to kill myself. Or I can portion limit my ration with controlled caloric consumption, I can last myself for years with long shelf life food. Other than that, mall should have emergency power generators which I can turn them on as and when I need some power supply to... Well I was going to say charge my phone, but then it's apocalypse, so I don't think there will be cellular signal or anyone I can call or air drop. Perhaps to power up my laptop and repeatedly played the 3TB of prawn collection I've downloaded in my teenage years, so I can keep my hopes up by pounding the salami until... Who knows if god will send me an apocalyptic Eve. I'll probably introduce myself as, Dave.
Out in the Mountains (Most likely Blue Ridge), isolated away from civilization or civilized anything is where I would chose to survive a zombie apocalypse. There is hundreds of miles of high terrain and deep woods in the Blue Ridge mountains. There are also many natural water sources as well and untainted wildlife. The tall tree canopies also make great for lookouts and hiding.
I consider myself a bit of a nature survivalist. I can catch fish and start fires. I can build shelters, I'm not afraid of insects or venomous creatures (my most recent swamp witch post highlights this).I am not above hunting game. And I could easily craft weapons from the resources the earth provides me.
Survivability score 8/10...
If a zombie apocalypse were to happen, I should have a place to stay that is safe, inaccessible to zombies and difficult to reach for other bad-intentioned humans. There's no better place than an island!
Well, if the point is safety from zombies I wouldn't have to worry, after all, a zombie wouldn't sail to an island! So I think this would be a perfect place to shelter from this danger. Humans could even find me, but an island would be easy to set traps on and also to keep an eye on.
The downside of an island is that resources are limited. I would have to be self-sustaining and also use the sea as a source of food. Drinking water would be the biggest problem, and using desalination processes or looking for a larger island where there are fresh water sources would be a solution.
I think an island would be perfect for a zombie apocalypse if I could meet the needs. I could also have a boat to look for resources elsewhere!
If there were an epidemic or something that would trigger a zombie apocalypse, I would choose to survive on the island of Ellidaey, the place with the most isolated house in the world, in the south of Iceland. The site is only 4.5km² and its access is very complex, it would be completely protected from zombies and humans with dubious thoughts, as it could destroy the access point to the island.
Living on this island would not be a problem, however, resources are limited, I would have to adapt to a reality that is completely different from the modernity that exists in the world, I would regress to antiquity, living off hunting, fishing and building items that would facilitate my survival in the place. .
The island is beautiful, it has a green pasture that covers the entire length of its territory, it is possible to raise animals and build a self-sustainable system of survival and the night must be wonderful without the lights and noise coming from modernity.
I would live in this place without any problems, it would be my refuge from a lifeless world full of zombies.
