Qurator's Mischievous Mondays | Urban Legends
Welcome to Qurator's Mischievous Mondays!
This will be a weekly competition that we will be hosting every Monday. We want to see a little more engagement and fun when it comes to some of our competitions so this will be a simpler and shorter competition. Easy to enter, but maybe not so easy to win. ;) This competition will be similar to the Monday Missions we had a long time ago, but instead of writing posts to enter we will now consider only the comments and answers on this blog as your entry to win.
Why Mischievous?
We all could use a little fun in our lives. We would even say that we deserve it, let loose a little and have a go at making everyone laugh or think a little, even if it is a little over the top or pure silliness. Go all out and let your creative juices flow.
This week's theme : Urban Legends: A writing or art challenge that invites everyone to come up with their own urban legend. Good luck!

Higginson Highway in KwaZulu-Natal also known as "Highway Sheila" has an urban legend:-
A woman had a flat tyre waved down passersby who where the unsavory kind, after raping her, slit her throat!
Now whether event happened on the N2 or Higginson Highway this became known as "Highway Sheila" where some have said they saw the woman, offered her a lift she gets into the vehicle then mysteriously disappears.
This story is still told by Chatsworth residents a village not too far from where I live, along the same freeway we use to Durban.
Fact or fiction your decision, or those who have seen her along the road here.

"The Riverside Capybaras"

Long ago, on the shadowy banks of the Paraibuna River in Juiz de Fora, in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, there exists a legend that whispers through the dark corners of the city. It is said that the capybaras that inhabit the waterfront are not simple animals, but guardians of a sinister secret.
It is told that on nights of the waxing moon, the capybaras transform into monstrous creatures, with glowing eyes and sharp fangs. On these dark nights, they emerge from the murky waters of the river and roam the deserted streets of the city, searching for unsuspecting souls.
The elders say that those who dare to wander the banks of the Paraibuna during the waxing moon risk encountering these terrifying creatures. Reports speak of missing travelers near the bus terminal, their fates shrouded in mystery, leaving only blurred footprints in the mud along the riverbanks.
Some believe that the monstrous capybaras are the embodiment of the vengeful spirits of the ancient indigenous inhabitants of the region, who were unjustly driven from their lands. Others say they are guardians of a lost treasure at the river's bottom, willing to protect their treasure at any cost.
Regardless of the truth behind the legend, one thing is certain: the capybaras of the Paraibuna River waterfront remain a source of mystery and fear for the city's residents, who avoid the riverbanks during the waxing moon nights, fearing to encounter these shadowy creatures, their sinister legends, and facing the end of their lives.
Awesome urban legend, one can imagine the change on nights with waxing moon taking place, bet the children go to bed early over that part of the month.

On a cold, gloomy night, under the flickering light of a streetlamp, one beggar whispered to another a story that seemed to have been woven from the most intricate threads of the imagination. It was a narrative so absurd that it could easily have been dismissed as a lie. But as the days passed, strange events began to unfold, as if the beggar's words carried a strange power of prophecy.
it was said that in the underworld of the sewers, a dark realm forgotten by time, cockroaches had discovered a secret passage to hell itself. A feat that only these resilient creatures could achieve. When the first cockroach entered this forbidden portal, others followed in its wake, discovering a world of darkness and disease that was a torment to humans.
The cockroaches, beings who had always inhabited the shadows, awoke to a consciousness of their own, a consciousness imbued with resentment and bitterness at the way they were treated by humans. hatred grew in their hearts, fueled by injustice and indifference and by the loved ones who had always been trampled underfoot.
Since then, they have silently organized themselves, like a hidden legion plotting in the shadows, to bring deadly and contagious diseases to humans. Diseases like Ebola and the coronavirus were perhaps just some of the weapons they kept in their apocalyptic arsenal.
They will bring pests to humans as they climb into their forgotten food in the sink, travel through their bodies as they sleep and, in this case, make them sick. They will come out of the drains and go through your homes looking for opportunities to leave something bad.
Over time, the beggars who shared this story were never seen again, as if they had been swallowed up by the plot itself. Did the cockroaches, aware that their actions had been discovered, silence those who dared to uncover their secrets?
No one can say for sure, because this story, like the cockroaches who starred in it, continues to move in the shadows.
Congratulations to all the winners.

There is a very tragic and inappropriate story, which is categorized as an urban legend.
It is said that the freshman class of a certain undergraduate course were in the biology laboratory examining saliva samples under the microscope when at a certain point the professor was called to identify what the small beings were that were moving insistently.
