I Played A Risky Role During The Pandemic.

I think the year 2020 was the best for some because their lives changed for good. At the same time, it is the worst year of some people maybe because they lost their family members, jobs so so many things that are valuable to them but to those who didn’t really lose anything and earn too, they should at least be grateful for life.
The pandemic ruined so many things then and it made me remember my experience with some police officers when I acted like whom I’m not. I had to get into character straight just to achieve what I wanted on that day.

This happened during the pandemic when we were asked not to go out so we won’t contract COVID. The lockdown was really crazy that the highest movement you could experience was people moving from street to street. I’m even glad that it was not up to what some people experienced in their countries. Fortunately, some people were allowed to go out like those selling groceries, working in the health sector and some important job sectors.

On that day, I was extremely bored and decided to go see a friend. I’ve been at home for more than five months and it was tiring already. I drove my Mum’s car because it was quite difficult to get a bus. I got to my friend’s place and had fun for a while. I thought of going home before everywhere becomes dark and before we start seeing police officers on the road so they won’t question me about where I’m going to or where I’m coming from.

Unfortunately for me, I met them on my way back home. They were fully armed and I was scared because we’ve been warned not to go out. I began to rack my brain thinking of what to do. Luckily, I came up with the best plan and put it into action. When I got to their stand, they greeted me and I nodded my head. I’m sure they were wondering why I didn’t respond with my mouth.

They began to ask me where I was going to or coming from but I didn’t respond. I started to act like someone who was deaf and dumb. I even had to mimic them just to make the officers believe that I was truly dumb. I was very scared but I just thought of giving it a try and to my greatest surprise, the police officers let me go.

I guess they believed that I was deaf and dumb and maybe that was why they let me go. Also, I was able to show them my driving license and the car particulars. I was just being lucky because I know Nigerian policemen. Even if it was a real deaf and dumb person, they may treat that person bad so I was lucky even without giving them a dime.

I’m glad I got home safely and the police officers didn’t blow my head off with their rifle. That was a risky game and that playing that character in the front of the cops makes it extremely risky but I’m glad it was a success.
