WWE: The Crown Jewel
I'm so glad to be back again to share with us the beautiful event that took place this weekend in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The WWE management decided to bring another fun-loving event to the WWE Universe at large. The crown jewel is an event that particularly comes to life in Saudi Arabia. I am opportune to watch two of its kind, the one of 2022 and this year's crown jewel.
A few numbers of WWE superstars went to the event to showcase their talents in Saudi Arabia. Some lost their championship while others retained theirs, it was a match to be remembered. Some of my favorite wrestlers were in attendance which made the event a must-watch for me. The crown jewel was rated number one on the X app which incurs a larger number of viewers.
Seth Rollins was challenged by Drew Mcintyre for the world heavyweight championship and it wasn't a fun fair at all. It was a thug of war as both wrestlers took their time to exert their strength but in the end, Seth couldn't let go of his championship just like that. He retained the championship as the world heavyweight champion.
Coming to the women's division, a fatal 5-way match was held, with Shayna Bazler and Raquel Rodriguez, who would have thought that Rhea Ripley would be crowned the winner. These three women are great wrestlers with wonderful athletic skills that cannot be overemphasized. Rhea has always wanted to dominate the women's division but I guess each and everyone is trying to create their spotlight. The ending was so creative as Raquel pinned Bazler but Rhea stole the victory at last.
It's been a while since Solo Sikoa joined the WWE and ever since then, he has been showing the WWE universe his Samoan skills. In Saudi Arabia, he showcases his skills in a match-up with the legendary John Cena. We all know John Cena to be a great wrestler of our time but I guess age is telling on him, his strength and energy are fading but he was able to fight a good fight in the end, Solo annihilated John with multiple Samoan spikes to take the victory.
The hall of fame, Rey Mysterio was the defending champion for the United States Championship until he received a challenge from Logan Paul. The Mexico short man has been a wrestler I have known since childhood. I knew his strength and capability and I can say, he is a good wrestler who wouldn't settle for less not give up. Logan on the other hand is someone I'm not used to his ways of fighting but with what I saw in this matchup on Saturday, he is a good wrestler.
Logan's victory was achieved because of the knuckle rings used in hitting Rey, which gave Logan the victory he had been waiting for. It was a great match Rey refused to give up so soon but in the end, Logan won the match to become the new United States champion.
My all-time female wrestler Bianca Belair challenged Iyo Sky for the WWE women's championship but couldn't get her way through as Kairi Sane interrupted the match thereby allowing Iyo Sky to retain the championship. Since Bianca's debut in WWE, she has never failed to deliver what is expected of her. She is energetic, flexible, and talented and that made me love her.
The American Nightmare, Cody Rhodes was in a match-up with Mr. Money in the bank, Damian Priest a member of Judgment Day in a head-to-head match. Cody is a great athlete who understands how to navigate his way in the ring, he knows how to watch his opponent and calculate his next moves and that has always given him a head-up in his matches. The two wrestlers gave it their best but Cody took the glory by overpowering Damian.
Now to the main matchup of the event, which is the match-up between Roman Reigns and LA Knight for the undisputed universal championship. The defending champion Roman has been with the title for over three and a half years. This gave him lots of confidence because several competitors have challenged him yet he retained the championship. LA Knight is indeed a strong man, the match was worth all the accolades but thanks to Jimmy Uso, he came to help Roman but in the end, got beaten up by LA Knights. Amid the confusion, Roman seized the opportunity to spear LA with his signature skills of superman punch and spear to retain the title as the undisputed Universal champion.
This year's crown jewel has come and gone with multiple memories to hold on to. Thanks for your time and your comments shall be appreciated.
