My mum and I .//. LOH contest #179

My mom and I have always shared a close relationship. She has directly and indirectly taught me many things, but it's funny how some of her actions or traits, exhibited carelessly, have had a significant impact on my life. One of the lessons I've learned from her is the importance of independence and hard work. While there's a societal narrative that suggests wives or women should rely on their husbands or men, it's perfectly acceptable for women to be independent in certain aspects of their lives, even within marriage.

My mom is a businesswoman, the most brilliant and hard-working woman I've ever known. I attribute my business-oriented mindset to her, but beyond that, she has instilled in me the values necessary for independence. As a married woman, she inevitably faces numerous burdens and responsibilities, yet she diligently strives to balance her personal and business aspirations with her family duties.

As a businesswoman, she exemplifies perseverance. Despite encountering numerous business challenges, failed ventures, and substantial losses, she always finds a way to persevere, even amidst chaos. Often, when I encounter business difficulties in life, I find myself asking, "What would mom do?" My mom never backs down from a business endeavor due to temporary failures. Thus, in my professional life, I've learned to persevere through tough times.

Aside from occasionally being lazy, I realized when I was younger that I often gave up on things too easily. However, closely observing my mom, I noticed that she doesn't accept "no" for an answer. Life doesn't hand you what you desire; you must seize it yourself. While I still struggle with this concept, I've learned that when people or circumstances say "no," I don't have to accept it; I can persuade or make them to say "yes."

Additionally, my mom taught me how to prioritize efficiently. Balancing her roles as a mother and a businesswoman, she somehow manages to find a way to juggle both responsibilities. From her, I've learned two key points: firstly, there's a time for everything. She follows a daily routine, even though she doesn't write it down or create a to-do list; her mind and instincts guide her through her daily tasks. Secondly, she taught me the importance of delegation. Life is too stressful to handle everything alone, so it's essential to delegate tasks or chores to others. In my recent blog post about managing stress, I mentioned how my mom helped me alleviate work stress by delegating tasks.

In conclusion, what I've learned from my mom surpasses what I can express through mere writing. She has profoundly influenced my attitude, business acumen, relationships with others, and my life in general. I am immensely grateful to have a mom like her in my life; she is truly a blessing to me.
