Chapter 3

In the previous chapter, Caxemina is seduced by Eduardo, but they are interrupted in their passionate encounter, then she leaves the musical instruments warehouse. We continue with the story...

Arriving at the police station the head of the department calls Caxemina urgently. A new girl has been murdered, and he presents him with the case report, again strangulation with a piano wire and another mask lying on the scene, to his mind came that moment where Eduardo mocks about the piano wire and the strangulations.

She refuses to think it was him, but it is such a coincidence, she has to think clearly and not get carried away by his emotions. Maybe she should say that she feels prevented from continuing on the case, but then they would probe her as to why. It is better to go ahead and block out all that disturbs her.

She goes to the morgue to inquire about the autopsy results, but nothing conclusive. The blood on the mask was the girl's, only the piano wire was left and the only place they sell them is in that instrument store. She must question the man who taught her to play that beautiful melody by Beethoven, Eduardo.

Caxemina goes to the warehouse in the morning, not as a woman, but as a professional working on a very serious case. The detective enters the place, takes a look, and sees that the mask is no longer there, this brings more questions than answers. She is greeted by the clerk asking if she can get anything, and the detective asks for the owner of the store.

The employee answers that he is out and will not be back until later. Caxemina says goodbye, then leaves, heading to the police station for further orders. The department head informs him that he is going to mount a new operation now with aerial surveillance and cameras. The killer's modus operandi is complex and cannot yet be interpreted by Detective Caxemina.

Already at the parade, all the officers are on high alert to control any situation that gets out of hand. The parade continues, music, dancing, and dancing are the stars of the day. After the detective mingles with the colorful, rowdy crowd, she begins to persistently search for suspicious situations that will finally lead to the whereabouts of the murderer. The parade proceeds normally.

After a few hours of wandering around the joyous scene, she sees a man dressed in black with a girl in the distance, suddenly he takes her away. The detective runs after the suspect. The mysterious man turns around and looks at Caxemina who is coming at full speed, pushes the girl, and runs away through the crowd. The detective doesn't want to let him out of her sight, she yells at him to stop, but he ignores her.

The chase continues, and they enter a dead end. Caxemina calls for backup, she has him very close, pulls out her gun, and fires warning shots. The masked man remains motionless, the detective starts to give him orders, but he doesn't flinch. She approaches cautiously little by little, she is only a meter away.

She asks the suspect to raise his hands and kneel. The suspect has no choice but to do so. She is going to handcuff him to get him under her control, she approaches very carefully and gets a little distracted when she pulls out the handcuffs. The masked man flips over, spitting pepper spray at him, accompanied by a handful of flour. He disarms her, knocking her to the floor, her senses are knocked out for a moment. The masked man escapes by climbing the wall of the alley and gets lost behind the wall.
