Changes

Tim was an introverted teenager whose world revolved around social networks and virtual games. From a very young age, he had a taste for virtual life, since his parents took him down that path, giving him the cell phone so he wouldn't bother.

The years went by and little Tim grew up with his love for the cell phone, which would become an addiction. He became more and more enclosed in that world, where he had no fear and was respected by people he didn't even know in person.

The situation worsened when his parents separated due to the incompatibility of characters, which was written in indelible letters before the sentence, Tim's world collapsed, because although he was introverted he loved his parents, and liked to spend quality time with them.

Now everything was different, Tim took refuge more in his fantasy world, he became aggressive, and with his mother the relationship was unsustainable, Tim felt that she was to blame for the separation because of her constant jealousy, fights, and many other situations that bored the father.

Tim's mother did not know what to do, in a way she had developed a fear of her son, and the idea of physical abuse by her son made her wake up, she felt that her son was getting out of her control and very soon he would fall into the abyss of darkness.

Luckily it wasn't all negative, Tim had an uncle named Carl, and he loved spending time with his uncle. He was very close to the boy and loved him like a son even though he didn't have one of his own. Carl would lie awake every night thinking about Tim's fate shortly.

Carl tried to keep his nephew as uninvolved as possible with the parents' lawsuits. He did not want his mind to be further damaged by these matters, which would cause him to retreat further into his world of bits. By all means, he wanted Tim to get away from that depressing and empty house.

December was coming and Carl wanted to do something special for his beloved nephew, so he thought of giving him a bicycle. The red paint with black parts gleamed beautifully in the sunlight; a comfortable seat with a black lining, decorated with his favorite anime characters, and huge wheels with a white line around the wheel.

Carl couldn't wait for Christmas Eve to arrive and see the look on Tim's face, so he finished the preparations and attached a red bow to the bike to make the gift more eye-catching. After much waiting the big night would come, Christmas had arrived with its magic and joy to all the people, nothing could go wrong on that wonderful night, except...

Hours earlier, Tim had argued with his mother and ran off in an unknown direction. Tim's mother called Carl in desperation asking for help.

"Carl, please help me find Tim." The distraught mother let out sobs behind the horn.

"Don't worry, Leonor, we'll find Tim." He felt a terrible squeezing in his body as if he had lost an important part of himself.

The first thing he did was to call the boy's number, but there was no answer, he left the house and headed for the neighborhood where Tim lived with his mother. He began to walk through the streets shouting his nephew's name amidst the carols and fireworks that welcomed Christmas.

Carl stood in front of a huge Christmas tree and looked up at the glowing colored lights. His eyes glazed over remembering his beloved nephew, and he made a wish with all his heart. At that instant the cell phone rang, Carl answered "Alo, Carl speaking."

"Uncle, it's me." Tim's voice, changing between high and low tones, echoed through the speaker.

Carl felt a huge break as if a great weight had been lifted from his shoulders. "Tim, where is it, to go pick it up."

The boy would tell him his location and Carl quickly ran out to meet his nephew. He found him sitting on a park bench in front of a Christmas tree. Carl looked at Tim and hugged him so tightly so he wouldn't run away from his life. Tears welled up in both pairs of auburn eyes.

"Tim, boy, how you make me worry, we're all like crazy looking for you, what happened?" asked Carl expectantly at the dazed face of his nephew.

"It's just that my mom, was upset because Dad wanted to see me and she wouldn't let me." Tim cringed, hiding the great melancholy in his heart.

"You know what a difficult process your parents are going through, but at the end of the day, they love you and care about you. You need to cut your mother some slack and understand her." Carl hugged his nephew while looking at the beautiful Christmas lights.

"I'll try, it's just so hard, why is life so hard?"

"It is and all along the way we come across these potholes that are hard to get around, but we have to get over them to stay on the road. Now come let's go home I have a surprise for you." Carl with a big smile was driving him home.

The whole family, including his father, were waiting for them and gave them a big welcome. Carl ran to the tree and gave him the bicycle, Tim was moved to tears and tore the red wrapping paper decorated with Christmas trees and colored balls. Happiness overwhelmed the boy, he went to hug his uncle and then his father.

"Every weekend we'll go out to exercise on the bikes, so you can stop playing video games, haha." Carl grabbed the boy's head and tousled his hair with his hand.

"Ok, man, let's see how far I get. Haha."

After months the bike had become an escape from routine and depression. Tim and Carl would go out on their little steel horses to eat up the asphalt of the roads. Tim was starting to loosen up and become more outgoing, and his relationship with his mother was slowly improving.

Without a doubt the bike rides were fantastic, Tim seemed to fly as the fresh air caressed his face, and all his frustrations and sadness disappeared with the fatigue and the effort of reaching the changing finish line on each ride.

Cambios

«No te preocupes, Leonor, encontraremos a Tim».

Jaja».

I liked your story because I remembered a neighbor who said that people thought he rode his bike for exercise, but it was to forget about the world. Regards

An example of how cycling can be a good way to take your mind off your worries, Tim was very lucky to have his uncle who cared so much about him. When going through divorces it's not that the parents are doing everything wrong, but the children who are the most affected do see it that way. Thank you for sharing your story, it was very nice to read it. Regards

Thanks for passing and leaving your comment. I'm glad you liked the story. In a separation those who suffer the most are the children, I wish no one had to go through that, But life It's like that, there's nothing to do.

Good day.

This story shows how technology can have positive and negative effects. On the one hand, one can become trapped in a world of so much information. On the other, technology like bicycles can be liberating and give us a new perspective on life.

Technology as an enslaver of lives if it is not known how to control it. The true enjoyment of life is found in simplicity.

It's great to see Tim finally step out of his virtual world into the real one, and I'm glad his uncle Carl was able to help him out by giving him a new hobby with that bike. Maybe, I should start using cycling to unwind after a long day on screen.

Good messages @rinconpoetico7 . The separation of his parents affected Tim; which immersed himself even more in his virtual world. Thanks to his relationship with his uncle, Tim was not devastated by the divorce. Furthermore, his uncle wisely knew how to lead him on the right path.
Sometimes adults get wrapped up in his problems and leave aside his greatest loves... Tim is a classic example, but in the end he reacted positively to his uncle's encouragement. Perhaps, because he did not have children, he dedicated more time to caring for him....

Saludos.
