Love without race or color

In an old cabin in the middle of the Amazon jungle, Laura Smith, a Canadian photographer, 1.73 meters tall, white as a cloud, blonde hair like ripe wheat, and that beautiful pair of intensely blue eyes, who loved to explore animal life in their natural habitat in the mountains, had arrived with a group of tourists but decided to detach from them and stay alone in that old cabin, offered by the tour company that had contacted.

She had been there for a week, she loved the solitude and the noises of the jungle, everything was green and mysterious, the only thing she did not like was the cold water of the river (the same as in her country, but there was a heater), so she did not bathe very often; one day she decided to go to the west side of the jungle, to capture new photos for her calendar.

She began her hike very early in the morning, when she had been exploring for a while she saw human footprints, she didn't pay much attention to them because he thought they belonged to other tourists and continued.

She heard the fall of a waterfall and decided to get closer, when she arrived he saw a man bathing in a spectacular well, where the falling water produced a white foam, she wanted to go back, but he had already seen her, so she bravely came out of the bushes. "Hello, who are you?"

He just stared at her as if petrified, she nervously asked him, “Can you understand me?”

The man kept looking at her, the water was on his chest, she took out her camera and signaled him that she wanted to take pictures, but he seemed petrified in silence, so she took advantage and took several pictures.

“What are you doing?” he says to her, without moving from where he was in the middle of the well, surprised that she was speaking to him in his language,

She answers with a trembling voice. “I am a Canadian tourist, I am a professional photographer.”

He came out of the water and she could see his beautiful body naked, she was extremely impressed by his corpulent physique, his well-defined arms and legs, long black hair, broad back, and well-defined pectorals, what caught her attention the most was that he had clothes on the river bank; she walked towards him.

He finished putting on his pants, she looked at him and questioned herself, because she was convinced that he was a native of the area, “Why does he wear pants and not guayuco?”

When he felt her close he turned around, they could not stop looking at each other, they had been captivated by each other's beauty.

“I am a native of this region," he said as if to break the ice that had formed between them.

“Really? Hey, how is it that being a native you speak English so perfectly?”

"With so many visits, one learns," he said, winking his left eye, "I have served as a guide to many groups that have visited us..." He said as he smiled at her, his smile was beautiful, his white teeth well aligned, she reciprocated his friendly gesture, and their gazes were flooded with mutual admiration. “No, lie, I am indigenous, but my story is different from everyone's here; I am from the Ticuna tribe, and my mother died when I was born. At that time some visitors were here and when they saw me as an orphan they asked the cacique for me and he agreed; they took me with them, but my native nature brought me back and I do not plan to leave anymore, my adoptive parents died 5 years ago in a plane crash, in civilization I do not feel free as in this place; of course, I am not in my tribe because I no longer belong to it, but I live here and I feel happy.”

She listened to him with excitement and a lot of curiosity, it was an interesting story. "What is your name?"

“John and in native Nahua.”

“Well, Nahua, my name is Laura and I am from Canada.”

They both smiled and hugged each other, between them the magic of love had arisen. Nahua spent the day with Laura, he took her to the most beautiful places in the jungle, where the most exotic animals lived so that she could take pictures, he was teaching her how to walk in the jungle without getting lost, how to make plant repellent, the fruits she could eat and those she could not, she was fascinated in that sumptuous world. On more than one occasion, they found themselves exploring each other in a superlative degree of admiration.

He bowed to her, invited her to continue on their way, and they walked together while questioning each other. At the end of the day, he accompanied her to the cabin, she invited him in, there was a threat of rain, and they spent the afternoon talking; both felt that a special connection flowed between them and that a very pleasant trust had arisen, that which gives the sensation of having known each other forever.

Between fresh and complicit laughter they went into their worlds, the connection was such that the kisses were not long in coming, love emerged as a burning flame, the night was short for those lovers, their bodies amalgamated in a niche of lust, passion overflowed their senses and freed them from prejudices, they lived an idyllic night of those that are never forgotten.

At dawn she took advantage of his sleep and took pictures of him, she was crazy about his skin color, his long hair as black as jet, his back as perfect as Zeus, everything about the native seemed perfect to her.

"Today I'll take you to a place where you can take some amazing pictures." He told her as he woke up.

Several weeks went by, they were always together, he hunted to bring proteins, they lived two months in perfect coexistence, they were happy, they spent their days between her cabin and his, and they shared everything.

One day in the afternoon Laura commented to him that she should return to Canada, he was silent and sadness was marked on his face, they embraced and cried disconsolately, they did not want to separate, but there was no other option.

They spent a few more days of giving and mutual coexistence, of sharing everything and loving each other as if nothing else existed in the world. Nahua already took for granted that what Laura had told him was a joke, but one day when he woke up, he felt dense loneliness, he called her, looked for her in the cabin and its surroundings, and desperately went into the jungle, went to the well where they met and convinced of the truth of those words, he cried inconsolably.

When he returned to the solitude of his cabin, he noticed a small piece of paper signed by her: 'Love, I will return, we will marry and we will be happy, as we promised. Laura.'

—Hello, who are you?

— Can you understand me?

—what are you doing?

Laura.
