The Taita

I woke up to a day that seemed normal and routine, I went to the kitchen to serve myself a delicious dark coffee. The smell attracted me like a bee to honey, my stomach growled furiously asking me for a little caffeine, to resuscitate my body and soul.

I poured myself some freshly brewed coffee, strong and piping hot just the way I like it. When I took the first sip I felt something strange, I didn't pay attention to it and continued drinking my delicious coffee, after finishing I started to prepare something for lunch, I was making soup, I took the salt shaker and all the salt was sprinkled in the preparation. I couldn't believe it.

I left the lunch thing and ran out because I was late for work, I put coffee in a thermos to go, I took a cab, and while going to the office, I had another cup of coffee, instantly the car tire went flat. I had to run out, fortunately I was a few blocks away from the office.

I was a few minutes late the boss was not around, so I decided to sneak out, I drank some coffee for my nerves, and at that moment I heard the boss's voice. "Miss, what are these hours of being late, you must make up the minutes late or it will be deducted from your salary."

"Don't worry, boss, I will make up the lost time," I replied almost on the verge of collapse.

I went to my workplace and started with the filing work, but first I had some coffee to cheer me up, I turned on the computer and it did not turn on, I felt like I was going to have a heart attack. I called the boss and explained what had happened, after a big scolding, he sent the technician to check the computer.

The day continued to pass quickly and while they were fixing the computer I went to the company kitchen and met Sara, a friend of years in the office, I told her everything that had happened and she said, "You have a curse on your shoulders."

"How could that be possible, and how do you know," I asked anxious to know the answer.

"I was told that Harold did it because you didn't agree to go out with him. Something bad will happen to you every time you drink coffee." Sara looked at me with a hint of mystery.

"Oh no, what am I going to do now, help me, Sara."

"The only thing left to do is to stop drinking coffee until we solve this problem and then we will have to go to a 'Taita'."

"A 'Taita'?" I asked expectantly with a thread of hope to save myself.

"Yes, a 'Taita', is a person who works with witchcraft and curses, they can help when someone has suffered a curse."

After work, we left for the Taita's, and I was very eager to drink, I looked at Sara with my full hope on her idea. We arrived at a very strange place, tobacco smoke hung in the air, and the decor was gloomy and creepy. Bones, skulls, stuffed animals, and jars filled with many substances of various colors.

I wanted to leave the place, but Sara stopped me. The 'Taita', an old man with long gray hair, cinnamon skin, and indigenous features, came out. He invited us to sit down and said, "I know what you have come for, the curse of the coffee, and a vengeful man. It's not very complicated to undo, he did it without help, he looked up the spell on the Internet."

Having said that the 'Taita' got up and picked up some weird branches and asked me to stand up, he started praying and moving the branches, at the same time bathing me with tobacco smoke. Then he gave me to drink a horrible drink and then placed a steel handle on me, to protect me from evil. Then he told me, "The curse is off, now you can continue drinking coffee, and if you want we can give the curse back to the bad man, haha..."

I looked at him and Sara too, I said, "I'm content to continue enjoying my coffee without any problem, and Harold will already receive his punishment at Karma's expense." I thanked 'Taita' sincerely and we left the place with Sara.

The next day, I arrived at the office tasting my delicious coffee, a pleasure I would never want to lose. At break time, Sara came running in and said, "You heard Harold got fired this morning, the bosses found out he had sabotaged the computer you work with. The cameras gave him away."

"I'm not surprised, Karma acted without delay, I told you, Sara. Haha..." I looked at my friend and felt great relief, not because of the punishment he received, but because I would no longer have him around, and best of all I would still be enjoying my beloved coffee.

Jahah, why was a curse placed on your shoulder? I would have loved to know.

This is a very beautiful story.

Haha... It was all because of a rejected and vengeful man. Harold was the culprit of the curse.

Thank you for stopping by and leaving your kind comment. I'm very glad you liked the story.
