Exploring The Depths of Meaning
Let's start this piece with a question:
What is life without a meaning?
This question provokes other questions, is having a meaning to life or to what we do is same as having a purpose?
There are many questions that we can come up with here. But, what touches us the most is, does it make a difference to live our life without finding a meaning to what we do?
There are so many question marks. This is because, the question is a philosophical one.
It is believed that our mind tries to find a meaning to what we do in our lives on daily basis. Sometimes, we are looking for it in the things we do. Other times, our unconscious gives a certain meaning to things. On that same tone, we can fairly say that it will be a big challenge to do the simplest tasks in life if we have not found a meaning to them.
A supporting example would be, if you someone from across the world tries to break the genius world record in swimming, or running. What would your words be if you were to send a message to that person? If you are not into that certain sport and it doesn't concern you. It wouldn't make a difference to you and it won't make much of difference to you if you were to write them a message or not.
Just thinking of the previous question. What if one's personal things has no meaning to him? Or, it started losing its meaning over time?
So, should we find purpose to the things we do?
Well, those are two different things. For instance, going to work is for earning money. But, meaning resides in the work you do while you are there.
I did not intend for this to be long. So, I will end with saying that the beauty of life is, finding meaning to what we experience. I would add to that a quote from The book "Man Searching For Meaning ~ Viktor Frankl":
"The most miserable ones are those who cannot find meaning".
