LOH #215 ~` Making Time For Things That Matters
As we approach a new year, most people start their year by making resolutions. Things they would love to do or achieve. It's a common thing to set new goals for ourselves during this period. While some people feel the new year is just another day, others see it as the beginning of something or a time for them to start something new.
But sometimes, I wonder if we have to really wait a long time or a new year to start something that we can start today.
To some extent, I believe that you don't really have to wait till tomorrow or a new year to start something that you know very well that you can start today. So why wait?
For me, one thing I want to prioritize in the coming year, is “Reading”. I used to love reading, either hard copy books or ebooks. There was the time that I couldn't go a week without reading at least one or two books but all of a sudden, I lost my flair for reading and all I mostly do for my free time was just press my phone, laugh at stupid jokes, watch movies and just spend time scrolling through my phone.
I can't remember the last time I held a book to read and i must confess that I missed the feeling of fulfilment I used to get after I was done reading a book. I didn't notice until later how much the lack of reading had affected my writing skill as I lack inspiration to make a post.
So this coming year, I want to prioritize reading more but I am not waiting till the new year starts before getting into it because I asked myself “what if I keep procrastinating and I still don't do it?”, So I have started reading, though not at the same pace as I used to but I am going to be taking it one book at a time till I get back my flair for reading.
I really want to watch how I spend my time which is going to be less on unnecessary things and more on things that matter because like they say “time waits for no one”. There are lots of things most of us have that we are yet to achieve, myself included. So I want to ensure I put more efforts in achieving them.
Here is my entry to the question posed by @priyanarc for the @ladiesofhive contest. You can also join in here
I also didn't set any specific goals for myself for the upcoming year yet. I normally don't set many goals for the future because when I cannot achieve them, I feel depressed. My only thought for the upcoming year is to stay healthy, that's all. Thanks for sharing...
By the way, have you decided what genre books you gonna read?
I used to love reading horror , don't know why though 😃😃😃.
Now, I am gearing towards adventure or sci-fi. What would you recommend??
Thriller, Mystery, and thriller Sci-fi would be interesting... I personally don't like horror anymore due to some issues but I enjoy thriller sci-fi a lot. Also, I am a fan of the apocalypse and dark kind of thriller genre 🤣. But I hate violence and actions... 🤣
😃😃😃😃 I love how you hate but still love them. Thank you for the recommendations.

Hi sis, I'm agree with you when you said that we don't really have to wait till tomorrow!! Sometimes when I want to do something I just try to do it! And yes, time is very very important here, this is just an only one experience
You are right. I appreciate your coming around.
I used to pickup cheap paperbacks at a used book shop near a bus stop I frequented. Before Hive I used to read plenty at coffee shops as I waited between house calls during my Community Nurse rounds. I still have books I haven't finished or even started, I wonder if I will ever get back into the rhythm of reading again. 🤔
It's good to know how much you enjoyed reading back then, you probably would get back to reading again someday.
Thank you for stopping by.
It's great that you started reading, I'm sure that sooner than you think you will recover that talent for reading and as you say, it's not necessary to wait until tomorrow or a new year to start something that you can do today, much success,

I had the same thing happen to me with reading a few years ago, that you describe now. It took meeting someone who happened to work at a library to re-spark the interest in books. I think my life just got too busy and I sort of put it on a back burner, only to just keep trudging through.
I'm happy to report that I try to spend at least 30-45 minutes on days I don't work, on reading. I use the library now rather than purchasing ebooks through an app as it's so much more cost effective, lol!
I hope you rediscover books soon! Take care and have a lovely day!
It's good to know you are back to reading again. I do hope to get back there myself.
Thank you so much for coming around.

Hi @rukkie
I love to find people who like reading, nowadays they are hard to find, especially when it comes to reading printed books. Many prefer, as you said, to spend their time on the cell phone watching anything and let themselves be carried away by the comfort that this gives them. But it is an excellent resolution that you have made for the coming year. Best of success, blessings!
Thank you so much. I really hope to stay committed and read like I used to.
I appreciate you stopping by. Thank you.

Yep, reading is fun especially when you are holding a good book.
Setting much goals can put one in a lot of pressure in the new year. I believe having a stable plan pinned on a few things is better.
I agree. No pressure, just having fun doing what you've always loved to do.
Thank you for reading.
Season's greetings 🌺🥰

Thank you so much for coming around.
Time is indeed of value and should be spent wisely. Hopefully you get back on your reading game Sist... I'm rooting for you 😘
Thank you so much sis 🥰🥰🥰
You are welcome 🤗
I also love reading and in the last 2 years I have a hard time focusing to get through 1 book. I started listening to more audio books, but I would love to get back into reading as well. Especially fiction, I use to love reading supernatural/dark fiction.
