Pic1000 : The Ruse I Pulled
“Rukkie, try to eat something”, my mom would try to persuade me while I would barely look at the food. She would try pushing it closer to me and I would shake my head as I would prefer something else. I don't usually fall ill but when I do, I try to take advantage. Back then I thought it was a flex and didn't know better.
I can recall some times when I was much younger, whenever I am ill, I use that opportunity to request for whatever I want.
We don't usually get to make demands and mostly eat what is being prepared at home.
I knew my mom paid special attention to any of us when we fall ill and unlike the rest of my siblings who lose their appetite and find it difficult to eat whenever they fall ill, I eat very well.
“Would you like to eat some rice?”Mom asked me.
“No ma”, I would respond by feigning weakness.
“What would you like to eat then? She would ask again, looking worried.
I would smile inwardly knowing that was my moment to choose anything I want.
“Pounded yam and vegetable soup ma”, I would reply slowly.
In no time, mom would prepare the meal and I would eat to my satisfaction. My ruse didn't always take long as it doesn't take long for me to get better. But then all the special delicacies I get to eat for those few days would be worth it.
What do I see?
I see a young girl with blonde hair putting a piece of French fries in her mouth. There is also a plate of French fries on the table in front of her.
What do I feel?
I feel she has been served what she asked for and her mom obliged her as always.
Thank you all for reading.
I remember doing the same thing for years anytime I was sick. It lasted until I began to have siblings and the attention moved from me to them 😁😁😁
Hahaha. Nothing last forever.
Thanks for coming around.
Abi oooo
I guess mum did that, so that the medication given will active in the body.
