Beer Tasting Gillamoos-Bier and Irlbacher Premium

(Edited)

How are you, beer lovers? 🍻 And of course everyone else :)

After two days of intense rain here, today is sunny with a temperature of 20 degrees Celsius. Just right for autumn walks, but if the fallen leaves were dry it would be even better.

After a walk, a glass (or more) of beer is nice. And rightly so, today it's 330 in a row #beersaturday, two bottles of chilled beer waiting for me!

Both beers are German, the same style (Oktoberfest Beer) so it will be interesting.

🍻 😎 🍻

Kuchlbauer Gillamoos-Bier

Brewed by Brauerei zum Kuchlbauer, Abensberg, Bavaria, Germany.
Bottle, 0.5 l, alcohol 5.6% ABV.
It's Märzen or Oktoberfest Bier, a malty German lager, with rich, bready flavor, and restrained bitterness.

What do the Master Brewers say?

Well, about beer nothing just that this is seasonal, Märzen beer, and only one which is not wheat. Wheat beer brewer Kuchlbauer is one of the oldest breweries in the world, with brewing rights dating back to 1300. Gillamoos Bier is our Festbier.

All right, we'll give it a try. Purchased at the local Hofer store, in the Kalea Beer Box set of festival beers.

The beer is clear yellow in color, the head is solid and creamy. It smells of fresh malt. It goes down the throat smoothly, and I feel a trace of bitterness in my mouth for a moment at first, which is quickly overwhelmed by the sweetness of the malt and the flavors of white bread and butter.
A hint of bitterness lingers in the aftertaste for a while and then disappears.

The beer is fresh, drinkable and somewhat neutral. There is nothing too much or too little. It is balanced and very drinkable. A real festival beer to drink all night long.
Well, it's not available here, except in the current Kalea Beer Box set.

🍻 😎 🍻

Today I went to the orchard to see if it was time to pick the kiwis. They should be picked before the first frost.
But they are forecasting a few more days of high temperatures.
What should I do? Pick them or leave them for a while? I really don't know.

🍻 😎 🍻

Ah, I'll take my chances and wait a few more days. They'll be sweeter :)

Let's get on with the beer!

🍻 😎 🍻

Irlbacher Premium Gäuboden Volksfestbier

Brewed by Schlossbrauerei Irlbach, Bavaria, Germany.
Bottle, 0.5 l, alcohol 5.6% ABV, IBU 23. It's the same style as previous, a Märzen or Oktoberfest Bier.

What do the Master Brewers say?

Brewed with our Gaeuboden brewing barley from our own farm, unique spring water and aroma hops directly from our Hallertau hop farmer. With this popular Heimat Festbier, we have been contributing to the exuberant Bavarian atmosphere at the festival site and at home for decades, because so much Heimat has to be.
Ideal for beer gardens and festivals. Full-bodied, rounded taste, very drinkable for hot beer garden evenings. The special beer at the Gäubodenfest in Straubing. Only available in the months of June - September!

Yes, these Festbeers are usually seasonal.

The beer is bright yellow and the head is solid. It smells malty. A sip goes down the throat smoothly, I immediately taste the sweetness of the malt in the mouth, the bitterness of the hops is in the background, it is slightly bitter, and tastes of bread, hay, and herbs.
In the aftertaste, there is a hop bitterness that lasts for a while.

This beer is also refreshing and drinkable. Unlike the previous beer, it is a little more complex with herbal flavours but just as balanced. Very good for a festival beer. Maybe a bit heavier than the previous one in the sense that if I had been drinking beer all night I would have had an easier time drinking (read: more of) the previous ones.
Not available here.

All in all, this local (or personal, if you like) Oktoberfest of mine is going on and the festival beers are very drinkable :)

🍻 😎 🍻

And what am I listening to as I write this and taste the beer? Something Octoberfest-ish would probably be appropriate? But no. I'm getting lost in the piano improvisations of a young Greek woman I discovered in yesterday's #newtunes post. I have a feeling I'll be wandering in her timeless music for a while...

Sounds like you deserved some good beers, indeed!
Glad to hear that the weather has been much better than I've been experiencing here in the UK.
It was great to see kiwis on the tree, as I've never seen it before.
have a great weekend:)))

Thanks for stopping by. I really shouldn't complain about the weather. There were some disastrous floods in August, but not here. Yes, we have had kiwifruit for about ten years, two female and one male plant. It is actually more of a bush than a tree because it needs something to lean on and then it spreads. !BEER

Two female and one male plant

I forgot that you have that. I guess it's important to know the difference when planting. I had a quick look online 😄

It is actually more of a bush than a tree because it needs something to lean on and then it spreads

I'm fascinated 🤗

Happy Sunday!

Both bottles look inviting, finding a mixed box like this would mean loads of surprises to be found within.

Kiwi fruits look ready to go, nice to learn how they grow plenty on the trees/bushes.

Usually, these Kalea Beer Boxes appear in my local Hofer or Lidl store from time to time.
As for kiwifruit, I have read that it shouldn't freeze. It will be above freezing for at least a few more days, a week or so, according to the weather forecast. I will pick them up soon.

Have not noticed anything like this at our stores, will have a better idea to be on the lookout for now I have seen them, thanks.

Enjoy fruit picking, perhaps another beer once done !LOLZ

THIS is what I am talking about!

So often, I visit your #beersaturday blog and it feels like I am in an Amsterdam pub looking at a whole host of beers I have never heard of, wondering where to start.

I didn't drink near enough oktoberfest seasonal brews. I should head out and see if I can find a few to sample. Awesome selection here!

You're right about everything, @zekepickleman, except that it's not a pub in Amsterdam but usually my Hive publishing corner/studio/whatever where I combine the pleasant with the useful, or as they say 'Dulce et utile'. Cheers! !BEER
