Beer Tasting: The Stonewall Inn IPA & The Garden Cold IPA

avatar

Hello, beer lovers! 🍻

Finally, we have had one day without rain here. For the last two weeks, we have been in a tropical rainy season. It used not to be like this.
But I took advantage of the sunny day and worked outside all day in the orchard and field, so now I'm pretty pleasantly tired and thirsty in the evening.
361 in a row #beersaturday will be a great end to the day!

I have two cans in front of me, chilling all day. One American and one Croatian IPA are waiting for me in the fridge. Sometimes, I think I am lucky to be able to afford something like this.

First, the one with less alcohol.

🍻 😎 🍻

Brooklyn The Stonewall Inn IPA

Brewed by Brooklyn Brewery, Brooklyn, New York, United States.
Can, 0.33 l, alcohol 3.5% ABV, IBU N/A.
It's a Session IPA-style beer, a variation of the standard IPA with a hop-dominant profile. It's brewed with New World hops varieties and is lower in alcohol than a standard IPA.

What do the Master Brewers say?

The Stonewall Inn IPA is a fearless IPA for all. With unabashed notes of citrus peel and grapefruit, this unapologetic and refreshing IPA reminds us of where we’ve been and celebrates where we’re going. This is a beer for everyone, no exceptions.
The Stonewall Inn has been a beacon for the global LGBTQ+ Pride movement since the famous Stonewall Uprising in 1969. The Brooklyn Brewery is very proud to partner with The Stonewall Inn Gives Back Initiative (SIGBI) and to help make the world a more loving place, one beer at a time.

🍺

I've tried a few beers from Brooklyn Brewery, and they've been pretty good.

The beer is light yellow. The head is average and disappears quickly. It smells very much of hops and lemons. It goes down the throat smoothly. I taste the bitterness of the hops in my mouth, but it's not so pronounced; it's more subtle. There is also the aroma of lemon and grapefruit.
In the aftertaste, it all disappears quickly.

The beer feels fresh and drinkable, but it's more watery altogether. I was expecting a more pronounced bitterness. The alcohol, as I read later, depends on where it is exported.
This beer, at 3.5% ABV, was brought to me from Stockholm by a friend; the original is 4%, and the export to England is 4.6%. Why so? I have no idea. It's not available here, locally, but it certainly takes the edge off in some hellish summer heat :)

🍻 😎 🍻

Recently, I have been fascinated by kaleidoscopes again. These are the kaleidoscopes I created in Paint.net from the cover for today's #beersaturday. After ten beers, something like this would probably show up.

It's almost like a mantra.

🍻 😎 🍻

Let's move on, another IPA awaits, it mustn't get too warm :)

The Garden Cold IPA

Brewed by The Garden Brewery, Zagreb, Croatia.
Can, 0.33 l, alcohol 5.0 ABV, IBU 25.
It's an India Pale Lager or a hopped pale lager style beer, which means it is hop-dominant, hopped with New World hops, and fermented with lager yeast.

What do the Master Brewers say?

Where Lager & IPA meet. Light. Bright. Crisp. Clear. Super Refreshing. Hop-forward. Brewed with Lager yeast. Generously dry hopped with Ekuanot Incognito, Citra and Simcoe hops.
The Garden Brewery asked 16 of its favourite global breweries to work with us to create exclusive collab beers for Restore Our Earth, a charity project we initiated with Beer52, the world’s biggest beer club.
The Garden Brewery and Beer52 have committed to donate at least €30,000 to charities with proven high impact deliverables in Marine Conservation, Forest Conservation, Reimagining Carbon, Education & Behavior, Food & Agriculture and building Climate Resistant Communities.

🍺

I have never had a beer from this brewery before, so this will be my first time. I don't mind if brewers publicly express their political identity (the first beer is LGBTQ+; this one is Ecology), but it seems unnecessary to me.

The beer is clear and yellow. The head is average and disappears quickly. It smells of tropical fruit. It goes down the throat smoothly. First, I taste an average bitterness, followed by a malty sweetness, citrus, apricot, and pine flavors.
The bitterness of the hops and the sweetness of the malt linger for a while in the aftertaste.

It's drinkable, refreshing, and fruity. It's not a real IPA but a solid hybrid of IPA and lager. Having been out all day, physically working, and drinking only water, I liked it and was happy to empty the can. However, excitement and praise are not something I would use here. It will not find its way into my fridge.

🍻 😎 🍻

And what am I listening to as I write this and taste the beer? Nothing from yesterday's #newtunes post. I have a certain nostalgia for my younger years and the music of that time.

Wow just the design on the can alone 🤩😍 It's amazing how each IPA has its unique twist. The Stonewall Inn IPA sounds light and refreshing, perfect for a hot day definitely summer time. The Garden Cold IPA seems like an interesting mix, I might just give it a try if I find one 😁😁😁

These two beers are not bad, but they are not exceptional. Anyway, in the summer heat, when you're tired and thirsty, any beer will do, as long as it's cold. !BEER

Just by looking at it, I could see by the color the cold IPA would not find its way to my fridge too! lol
