Kellerbier, Urtyp, Tripel, and Black Aurora
Hello, beer lovers! 🍻
A sunny afternoon and a visit to a friend. Who, of course, because he knew, called me in for a beer because he had something new. A chilled beer waiting for me.
It was not a difficult decision; it was just right for 363 #beersaturday. 😎 🍻
In front of me, three bottles and one can, which we shared.
We started with Slovenian beer.
Pelikon Black Aurora Dark Ale
Brewed by Pelikon, Ajdovščina, Slovenia.
Bottle, 0.5 l, alcohol 6.2% ABV, IBU 40.
It's a porter-style beer, strong and dark in color, with roasted malt and a bitter taste. It may have various roasted flavors, usually coffee and dark chocolate.
What do the Master Brewers say?
Black Aurora is black with chocolate tones, complemented by the aromatic notes of the legendary Slovenian Aurora hops. This dark ale represents the sum of all our previous knowledge, which is most evident in this autumnal brew's balance, drinkability, and roundness. A top-fermented dark kraft beer brewed with Styrian Aurora hops and malted barley.
🍺
I have never had a Porter from this brewery. The time has come for that too.
The beer is dark black, with a brownish head that disappears quickly. The first sip goes down the throat smoothly. The bitterness of roasted malt is still quite pronounced on the palate. Later on, there are flavors of bitter coffee, slightly sweet caramel, and licorice.
In the aftertaste, everything disappears except the bitter coffee, which lingers for a while.
It is a creamy, drinkable, yet balanced beer - a faithful Porter.
Let's keep going!
Kulmbacher Mönchshof Kellerbier
Brewed by Kulmbacher Brauerei, Kulmbach, Bavaria, Germany.
Can, 0.5 l, alcohol 5.4% ABV, IBU 19
It's a Kellerbier or Zwickelbier style, which means young, unfiltered, and unpasteurized, traditional German beer, more malt-oriented and less hoppy.
What do the Master Brewers say?
The naturally cloudy Mönchshof Kellar beer results from Mönchshof's centuries-long brewing tradition and the love of traditional beer brewing. This amber color, mild beer appeals to lovers of unfiltered beer the way it used to be. A traditional Mönchshof beer specialty.
🍺
My first encounter with this Bavarian brewery.
The beer is light brown and amber in color. The head is average and disappears quickly. It has no smell. A sip goes down the throat smoothly, and I taste a discreet malty sweetness and a modest bitterness in the background, which continues with the taste of fresh bread and cereals, as well as hints of caramel.
A pleasant bitterness remains in the aftertaste, but everything else soon disappears.
It is a fresh and very drinkable beer, and it's a shame there was only one :) 😜
Astra Urtyp
Brewed by St.Pauli Brauerei, Hamburg, Germany.
Bottle, 0.33 l, alcohol 4.9% ABV, IBU 21.
It's a Pale Lager style beer without intense flavors, balanced sweetness and bitterness, and high carbonated.
What do the Master Brewers say?
The original from 1909: mild, delicate and simply delicious with 4.9% alcohol. Brewed in the heart of Hamburg with much love.
Tolerance, versatility and fullness of life – that's what the Astra brand is all about! The heart and anchor logo makes Astra absolutely unique and unmistakeable. The heart stands for life, love and even more fun. The anchor represents Astra's rough and tumble St. Pauli heritage.
🍺
I won't comment until I taste it.
The beer is orange in color, with an average head. It has no smell. It goes down the throat smoothly. There is little sweetness or bitterness; I detected no other flavors.
In the aftertaste, a faint bitterness lingers for a while.
Let's say it's fresh and drinkable. It certainly takes the edge off in tropical heat, but it's nothing special - just an average industrial beer.
Petrus Tripel
Brewed by De Brabandere, Harelbeke, West Flanders, Belgium.
Bottle, 0.33 l, alcohol 8.0% ABV, IBU 26.
It's a tripel-style beer, a strong and spicy Belgian ale with more malt than hop flavors and fruity notes.
What do the Master Brewers say?
Petrus Tripel is a complex beer that brings together the best of the past and present. Be carried away by the heavenly fruity aroma and slightly bitter finish. Brewed according to a new recipe with three European aromatic hops. The full secondary fermentation in the bottle gives the beer a refined sparkle in the chalice.
🍺
The beer is golden in color, with a solid head that does not disappear quickly. It has no odor. It goes down the throat smoothly, with a malty sweetness, a slight bitterness, probably due to the higher alcohol content, a slight hop bitterness, and a taste of ripe apricots and sponge cake.
A slight bitterness remains in the aftertaste.
A rich and drinkable beer with complex flavours. Belgian tradition does not disappoint. It is locally available from time to time in Lidl stores, so it is possible that a sample will end up in my fridge.
And what did we listen to during the session? Nothing from yesterday's #newtunes post. We were outside, and a friend had a good JBL speaker that streamed cool tunes.
