Never Miss

Introduction

Merry Christmas everybody! It so ends up I'm writing this post on Christmas day. Anyways, this post will be for the battle mage secrets challenge. The theme featured this week is Aim True. In this ruleset, all units get true aim. This means that any type of attacks can't miss. Magic already can't miss but there's cases where there is phase and well magic will 100% hit through phase as well in this ruleset.

My Strategy & Tips for Aim True

In Aim True, one of the things I'm looking for is speed. So for summoners, I'm looking at summoners like Jacek, Kelya, Lux Vega, Quix and Ilthain to be played so I can attack first. It's crucial to be able to attack first since you can't miss; there's a chance that you could kill one of the opponent's units without even giving them a chance to attack. If none of these summoners are available, I will look at whichever element has the units with overall great stats like speed and health and if it has good damage well that's a bonus.

I usually like to play water in this ruleset because water has a lot of fast units and great units with good speed, damage and health. My other go to would probably be Jacek swiftness team or Quix with some other element.

Do take note though that sometimes it also depends on the other rulesets like if it was wands out, despite looking for speed it would probably better to go for Immortalis to get void on the whole team to block a lot of damage.

The Battle

The battle link can be found here. I played this battle on my main account in a brawl for my guild Forbidden Summoners. You can see that the rulesets was Even Stevens, True Aim and Weak Magic. The mana cap was 28 and only the water and dragon element were available.

Discussing My Lineup

Summoner, Kelya Frendul - I chose Kelya Frendul as in my tips I mentioned I was looking for speed. Kelya was also good for weak magic since that armor could block off magic attacks. A better alternative would be Lux Vega but I do not own this card and it's a bit pricy to rent.

First Position, Baakjira - Baakjira was my main tank. This was mainly to soak damage since you can see Baakjira has 16 health and can heal itself. It also gives a slow which helps let my team be faster to attack first.

Second Position, *Torrent Fiend - Torrent Fiend was a fodder. It's main purpose was just to take 2-3 hits from the opponent. It can distract opportunity strike away from my other units. It also does bring some utility by decreasing ranged damage by one.

Third Position, Deeplurker - Deeplurker was my assassin. Since it can't miss it will basically guarantee a 1-2 hit kill on any low hp unit.

Fourth Position, Kulu Swimhunter - Kulu Swimhunter has great speed of five and a decent health of six and it also has great damage at four. It had great stats despite having no ability which is why I chose this unit.

Fifth Position, Merdhampir - I played this card because I was worried they would also go for some sort of healing play so the cripple would help. In addition to that, the leech would overtime add up and gain a lot of extra health to tank to allow my finisher to win the match.

Sixth Position, Dr Blight - This unit was my finisher. It's one of the best 1v1 late game units in the game. It's main purpose was just to get fat from the scavenges and win the late game.

Analysis of The Battle

This was an easy victory. Once I saw the beginning of the battle, I knew I was going to win. If you added up the damage and health and compared my lineup with my opponent, you could see that my team not only had more damage but it would also have more health with the leech and scavenge. There was no way the opponent was going to have a chance to win this battle. I'm not quite sure why they chose Quix though instead of Kelya or Lux Vega. Quix was a poor choice by the opponent and I feel like they should've used Baakjira infront to be a better tank. They also didn't play their 0 mana fiend so the opponent really blundered this battle. Anyways it's all good because it's a win for my guild in brawls.

Do I Like Aim True ruleset?

I'm kind of in the middle for this. I don't love it but I don't hate it either. Sometimes I play against stronger collections and well that's where I don't really like this ruleset because the lineup they play is just too strong. Other than that, I think it's an interesting ruleset because there's many different ways to play around. Even though I did mention speed as a crucial factor, there can be some taunt units so you can play a few slower units but have more damage.
