We Need This

Everyone that is still here on Hive Blockchain surely knows the difficulties in the beginning of writing content here. Well not everyone but most, at least for those that didn't have any connections or super good mentors. So how do we upgrade Hive Blockchain in this aspect?

The Problem
Firstly, I want to share my experience. When I first started writing content, I had no idea that I was supposed to write an introduction post. I guess it was not mandatory but it was something highly recommended as people will know you're human and get to know you and what kind of content you plan on writing. I struggled at first and I only got to start getting the hang of it through Splinterlands challenge posts which helped me later broaden to more topics and communities. I think for somebody completely new this may not be the case. Newbies I think have a hard time getting fairly rewarded for the efforts in their content. For example, I have invited @sigalaluf @adoraonhive. I guess they kind of gave up in a way since I don't see them writing anymore despite encouraging them to continue. I did advise them to keep writing, keep engaging with others but in the end they left.


UPGRADE Newbie Experience Onboarding + Retaining
This leads to my main point. In order for Hive Blockchain to go mainstream, we need more work on improving the onboarding experience as well as being able to make new users feel welcomed. Usually when a new person writes their content, they barely get any visibility since they don't have any followers yet etc.

Newbie Feed
What's something we can do. I think we can have a "newbie feed" and this will just show people that only have 1-3 lifetime posts. If they have more than that, I think that should be good enough experience to not be a newbie anymore. Personally, I would find time and look through 3-5 newbie posts a day if it was easily displayed to me. I know that there may be a way to search the #newbie #introduceyourself but sometimes newbies won't know to put these tags so this is just to be safer.

Short Form Content Being Main
I also like what Leofinance (Now rebranded as INLEO) and Ecency has done with threads/waves which focuses short form content similar to Twitter or now known as X. I believe this should also be incorporated into other front ends as well as peakd. All of these should be connected in a way as well if it's possible. In addition to that, this short-form content should be the homepage by default. Currently, there's no way to ask for help. You can't write a short post asking for help in a long-form content as this is not ideal in a long-form post. I think it will easier for newbies to get to know others and ask for help as well as make new friends with short form content. If they make new friends here, get support and feel welcomed I don't see why anybody would want to leave Hive.

Aim For 100M Active Daily Users
I have no idea how many active users we have on Hive daily but we should aim for 100 million. For some context, Facebook has daily 2 billion logins and X has around 250 million according to google search results. Based on that and the fact we have almost 8 billion people living on Earth, I think 100 million active users is reasonable.

Conclusion
Please let's improve the full newbie experience from onboarding to retaining. The solutions I provided may not be the best but hey I'm at least cooking some ideas. In the end, everyone should think of ways to improve Hive. The more people here, the more value Hive has. Everyone wins.
