From the Splinterlands Wiki: https://splinterlands.fandom.com/wiki/River_Nymph

River Nymphs inhabit the rivers of the Splinterlands. Shy and reclusive, they usually remain hidden beneath the water's surface. However, they have a strong respect for life, and they have been known to aid those in need. They are also fiercely protective of their homes and will defend it if it is threatened.

Created in Clip Studio Paint Pro on a Microsoft Surface Pro 7+. Here is the timelapse video:

And here is the step-by-step drawing process. Note these are not really in order, I started on the background layer first right after the rough draft. Also, step four was one of the last things I did to modify the line art, but it's easier to see the process in this order.

Step One: Rough draft. I use a 40 px pastel pencil to block out the rough shape

Step Two: Line art. I used the G-Pen tool at around 6 px size to make black lines

Step Three: Fill in a flat color layer of the whole figure

Step Four: Blur the line art. To make it look more like a painted figure and less like comic art.

Step Five: Clipped color layers for hair and cloth

Step Six: Shading!

Step Seven: Create an overlay layer for some highlights, and a detail layer for the eyes and lips

Step Eight: The background layer was just done on a single layer. Spent a lot of time pushing around paint using oil, gouache, and water color brushes

Step Nine: Sign my piece to prove that this is an authentic Matt S. Law work

Step Ten: Profit!

Thanks for scrolling all the way to the end.
