No man is an island—that much is true! We depend on other people and our surroundings for our basic survival. Our ability to build healthy relationships is essential to our pleasure since we are social beings.
At the same time, we are living in a period where we are getting more and more independent, and we are also failing to learn how to build relationships.
It's no surprise that we have decided that we must survive without depending on anybody else to make us feel complete, since even those who meet "their other half" and engage in partnerships and marriages frequently experience disappointment and divorce.
