I am very very happy to participate in the Splinterlands Art Contest for the first time! For Week 330 of the contest, I am submitting my hand-drawn watercolor painting of the Splinterlands card Lichen Beast.

Steps in the Process of Creating My Artwork: Lichen Beast
Here are the steps I followed to create my watercolor painting of Lichen Beast:

Conceptualization and Sketching

I began by brainstorming ideas for the Lichen Beast, visualizing it as a creature intertwined with nature, embodying both strength and life. Once the concept was clear, I created an initial pencil sketch to outline its key features, focusing on its monstrous yet naturalistic form.

Defining the Details
I carefully refined the sketch, adding intricate details like the moss-covered bark, twisted branches, and glowing yellow eyes to bring out the beast’s unique character. This step involved ensuring the proportions and textures aligned with its wild, earthy theme.

Color Application
Using vibrant colored pencils, I brought the Lichen Beast to life. Shades of green and brown were layered to mimic the textures of moss, wood, and bark, while blue tones represented water-like energy flowing through the creature. The glowing yellow eyes became a focal point, symbolizing its raw power.

Layering and Shading
To add depth, I incorporated shading and highlights. Darker tones were used to accentuate shadows and give the beast a three-dimensional appearance. The lighter areas, especially the green moss, were emphasized to create a vibrant contrast.

Final Touches
After coloring, I added final details like dripping effects on the branches and subtle textures to enhance realism. The goal was to create a harmonious blend of natural and mythical elements, ensuring the creature looked alive and imposing.
