Hello Alien Art community and Cosmic Creations participants!
I'm back with a new theme, MYTHOLOGY. I couldn't resist participating, being a favorite due to my excellence in Norse mythology. So, I tried to depict the beginning of the battle between Thor and Jörmundgander. I used certain perspectives from the game GOD OF WAR 4 as a reference, which helped me have a clearer vision of how the scene could look. Below, I'll show you the final image and the creation process.

Regreso con una nueva temática, la MITOLOGÍA. No pude resistirme a participar, siendo un gran fan de la mitología nórdica. Así que decidí representar el inicio de la batalla entre Thor y Jörmundgander. Tomé como referencia algunas perspectivas del juego GOD OF WAR 4, lo cual me ayudó a tener una visión más clara de cómo podría verse la escena. A continuación, les muestro la imagen final y el proceso de creación.

PROCESS

To begin, I selected these images that would assist me in composing the final design. Each one played a crucial role in the composition and application of techniques to achieve the end result.

Para comenzar, seleccioné estas imágenes que me ayudarían a componer el diseño final. Cada una fue fundamental a la hora de crear y aplicar técnicas para lograr el resultado final.

For a first attempt, and with a different background, I placed the images on top of each other and used a layer mask to erase parts to give it a certain perspective. However, I wasn't pleased with how Thor looked, and the building wasn't to my liking. So, I decided to start over. It's important to acknowledge the mistakes one can make when selecting pieces and to constantly experiment to get the most out of the composition. So, I said "NEXT" and began anew.

Para una primera prueba, y con un fondo diferente, coloqué las imágenes una encima de la otra y, utilizando una máscara de capa, fui borrando las partes para darle cierta perspectiva. Sin embargo, no quedé satisfecho, ya que me molestaba cómo se vería Thor y el edificio no era de mi agrado. Así que decidí volver a empezar. Es importante destacar los errores que uno puede cometer al seleccionar piezas e ir probando constantemente para sacarle el máximo provecho. Así que dije "NEXT" y comencé de nuevo.

So, starting anew, I found a perfect image with a mountain in the center. I decided to surround it with the serpent and added two extra details of Thor statues sitting, conveying a message that he was trying to claim ownership by destroying them provocatively. After finalizing the details of erasing parts of the serpent, I proceeded to place some clouds to give the appearance of fog, adding more mystery to the image. The eye of the serpent provided a perfect spot to position a light source.

Así que, empezando de nuevo, encontré una imagen perfecta con una montaña en el centro. Se me ocurrió rodearla con la serpiente y añadir como detalles extras dos estatuas de Thor sentado, transmitiendo un mensaje de que él intentaba apropiarse de la montaña y las estaba destrozando como provocación. Después de finalizar los detalles del borrado de partes de la serpiente, procedí a colocar unas nubes que darían la apariencia de niebla para añadir más misterio a la imagen, aprovechando que el ojo quedaba perfecto para ubicar una luz.

I placed a strong orange color and, using the "hard light" blending mode, inverted the layer to paint the area around the eyes, creating the effect of wanting to annihilate the life and soul of the enemy. Adding a bit more fog between the eyes helped to highlight them as an additional gleam.

Ubiqué un color naranja intenso y, utilizando el modo de fusión "luz fuerte", invertí la capa para pintar la zona de los ojos y lograr ese efecto de querer arrasar con la vida y el alma de su enemigo. Añadir un poco más de niebla entre los ojos ayudó a resaltarlos como un brillo adicional.

As you can see, the original background had a lot of exposure, so I proceeded to darken certain areas where the blacks/shadows are located. Darkening these areas creates more variations and highlights the lights, allowing me to place the figure of the god Thor and apply a separate exposure layer to adapt it to the background, creating shadows that belong to his figure.

Additionally, I added a thunder icicle in his hand to emphasize his main characteristic. I must admit that the biggest challenge was the statue surrounded by the serpent since it had a particular shine, and I went over it several times to make sure it looked the way I wanted.

Como podrán observar, el fondo original tenía mucha exposición, así que procedí a oscurecer ciertas áreas donde se alojan los negros/sombras. Al oscurecer, se crean más variaciones y se muestran más las luces, lo que me permitió ubicar la figura del dios Thor y aplicarle también una capa de exposición separada para adecuarlo al fondo y crear sombras que pertenecieran a su figura.

Además, coloqué un ícelo de trueno en su mano para resaltar su característica principal. Debo admitir que el mayor desafío fue la estatua rodeada por la serpiente, ya que tenía un brillo particular y repasé varias veces para asegurarme de que quedara conforme a mi gusto.

To conclude, I used textures to provide a more weathered and ancient book-like appearance. Thus, I bring my participation to an end, hoping you enjoyed it, and I look forward to seeing the contributions from other contestants. See you!
