Duke and the trauma of the fireworks, a story of overcoming the trauma (ENG - SPA)
Christmas is synonymous with anguish, terror and depression for our pets, which makes some owners not enjoy these dates as such. For as long as I can remember how traumatic Christmas is for my dogs, I don't like it as much as I used to. Last year at the Christmas lighting they used fireworks and for that date I was not prepared with Duke, I went to see the lights and when the rockets started instead of enjoying the show my mind and heart were with him 😪😭 we were a block away and when I arrived he was still very nervous.
So I started to look for homemade solutions on the internet and I found that tying a blanket around his body or placing pantyhose also on his body made him feel protected, as if they were hugged, it seemed logical that they felt protected and I looked for a shirt of mine of daily use and I put it on him adjusting it on his back with a little hair tail because the idea is that it was tight.
The first few minutes it seemed to work, although he was still tucked under the kitchen, but after a few hours the nerves returned and he was rather bothered by the shirt because he wanted to take it off which led me to buy him some special pills for his nerves, The first day I gave him the recommended dose, 1 pill for every 10 kilos, as he weighs 14 kilos I gave him 1 ½ I could see that he felt more relaxed and that gave me peace of mind, the night of New Year's Eve we all had a good time as a family to see that our Duke felt better.

I wondered if the only animals to suffer from pyrotechnics were cats and dogs, 🤔 and it turns out not. They have been found to also affect rhinos, elephants, big cats like cheetahs, even rodents are still running around minutes after the noise has stopped. 😱🥹 How is your experience with pyrotechnics and your pets?
Thank you for your valuable time and support and happy new year 2024.🫶

Wow, 150k upvotes is a major milestone. Congrats @soyunasantacruz 🎉

Poor Duke 😕
We used Tellington for our one of our dogs because she got so nervous that she got I'll for a day; it really worked sometimes. She passed last August anyway so fireworks can't hurt her anymore.
I hope gorgeous Duke can overcome his fear at least partially.
Happy New Year! ❤️
Ahi 🥲 he is already in a better place resting from everything.
Thanks, with the medicine Duke is doing better but he is abstaining from doing his needs and that makes me nervous, thank God it is only for a few days a year.
People can be really inconsiderate. Let's hope we'll have quieter holidays soon.
