Mexican Murals - Lavender Photorealism on a Café [CCC's Street Art Contest #178]
Last week I was just a few minutes late to publish my post for the weekly CCC's Street Art Contest. Oh well... So now I could use it for this week's contest, or I could just use something completely new. And I've found just the right thing! A beautiful small mural on the side of a café, located on Calle José María Vigil, close to the corner of Gral. Salvador Alvarado in the Escandón neighborhood of Mexico City.
Not Your Typical Wall Painting
... but I think it's even more interesting! The café's name is Lavendula, that is Lavender, and what would be more appropriate than a blooming lavender to illustrate it. And the piece of empty wall offered itself ideally for such an image. And the style of the painting could not have been done any better, if you ask me. A painting just like a photography, focusing on the flower in large detail, while the background is the fuzzy light-shadow combo, executed in the same photorealistic way.
So if you're in Mexico City, do stop by the Lavanda Café. They also have delicious hot chocolate. And if you like street art, take a look at my collection of Mexican Murals.
