Mexican Murals - Two Pairs of Eyes in Chihuahua [CCC's Street Art Contest #194]

Last weekend, during our visit to Chihuahua I wanted to make sure to find some good example of local street art. Murals, of course, we saw enough of, all in the grand style that one would associate with Mexican Muralism: lots of historical characters, in poses of action depicting even more history. They are so professional looking, that they should be in a museum, which in fact is often the case already.

As nice as these historical mural look, for the weekly CCC's Street Art Contest I wanted to find a wall painting that was more on the line of the urban street art. Maybe some impressive graffiti, but in any case an image that suggests having been painted in the cover of night. The one I found was this mural:

It is located on Bahía San Quentin street, close to its intersection with Calle Nueva Fe, as it leads up to the Cerro de la Sansa hill, described in my previous post. At first I wasn't even sure what I was looking at, though I did realize that this was some kind of street art, until I realized that it was looking at me! It's two sets of deep eyes, of what look like two Manga characters to me. The red eyes of the left one suggest that it may be a robot, or at least a cyborg of some type. The other one... may have its own share of super-human characteristics.

The artist whose name is featured on the right side and in the middle is Skemuno, but I have no idea what the ROCK 2021 DMC MEA is supposed to mean. At least it suggests what could be the year of creation, which gives it an impressive age, especially given that it's completely exposed and easily accessible to the world outside.

You can visit my Mexican Murals collection to see lots and lots of examples of street art in Mexico, and of course the CCC's Street Art Contest offers a growing number of awesome murals from around the world. So go ahead and check it out!
