The Walls of Berlin - Forest Creatures in Gransee [CCC's Street Art Contest #158]
Only about 50 km north from Berlin lies the village of Gransee. Other than a skydiving place, and a lake (which just about every town around here has at least one of), it doesn't have too much to offer. Still, there are some cool wall paintings to see, precisely in the underpass by the train stop, letting pedestrians cross the railroad lines safely.
A Very Rural Theme
"You are not in the big city any more!" is the apparent message of this mural, featuring cartoonish trees, as well as creatures inhabiting them. Sure, most of the imagery is made up of abstract shapes, colors, and geometric forms, but within them there are also cool critters of almost stereotypical nature. While the city of Berlin is also home to foxes and squirrels, out here they are more typically seen, which kinda feels right too. What I especially love about these images, is the pixellated, cubical appearance, as if they were part of some digitally enhanced cartoon drawings.
A Self-portrait of the Artist?
The only part of the whole design, that sticks out of the style covering the rest of the underpass, is the drawing of a face. Who is this guy? Could it be the artist himself? The tag in the bottom left corner also suggests that this may be him. But who is it? The tag kinda reads like StereoHeat, who in fact IS an actual muralist. If you visit his page, you'll see some very cool street art, though I am not entirely sure if the style is the same. The tag, however, bears lots of similarities.
This post is my usual participation in the weekly CCC's Street Art Contest where numerous people share their passion for amazing street-art, posting impressive murals from around the world. And even though it's not Berlin, I am still going to include it my Walls of Berlin series. (Yeah, a separate "Walls of Gransee" would be a short collection... or who knows, I may be surprised still!)
Congratulations, your post has been added to Pinmapple! 🎉🥳🍍
