Aceh Traditional Market in The Modern City Center

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

Hello friends how are you today, I hope today is fun and more enjoyable than the previous days. For those of you who like shopping, you may be familiar with the market atmosphere, especially since the market is one of the places that must be visited by housewives who want to buy their kitchen needs every day, or other primary needs that they need at any time. So, this time I want to show the atmosphere of the Acehnese traditional market in the middle of the city of Banda Aceh.

Before talking about the traditional markets of Aceh, I want to tell you a little about the city of Banda Aceh, the city of Banda Aceh is the capital city of the province of Aceh, because it is well known as the capital city, of course this city is the only city that is first advanced and more modern. if measured by age. It is true, this city is the first city that is more advanced than other cities in the province of Aceh, in fact there are many modern buildings according to today's times.

The city of Banda Aceh is 803 years old, consisting of 8 sub-districts, in ancient times the city of Banda Aceh was the center of Islamic work, previously this city was called KUTARAJA, which is the city of the oldest Islamic kingdom in Asia, then in 1962 KUTARAJA was renamed became BANDA ACEH CITY until this name has been applied to this day.

If we look at the age of this city, it seems impossible that in the middle of a city that is hundreds of years old, it is still out of date, right? In fact, this city is already a developed city today, judging from the existing buildings and structures. Around the city center it has indeed followed current trends, but strangely there are still traditional markets side by side with modern markets in the city of Banda Aceh, even though traditional markets are side by side with modern markets, these traditional markets are also visited by many visitors, both These are visitors from outside the city who are traveling to this city as well as local visitors.

So what's interesting about this market? When it comes to prices, of course the goods sold in traditional markets are cheaper compared to the prices of goods in modern markets, and the goods sold are bought and sold. In this traditional market there is more diversity and many types, what is even more unique is that the traders in the traditional market sell fruit while selling sandals, but in the modern market, for those who sell fruit, they will sell fruit with various types of fruit. fruit and not mixed with selling sandals or shoes.

We wandered around all day in this traditional market, it was interesting for us to see an offer of sandals from one of the traders we met at a much cheaper price than the usual price, and this trader was selling sandals while selling fruit beside him, usually fruit traders- fruit we are allowed to taste the fruit they sell before we buy it, if it tastes right we can buy it and it is also okay if we cancel the purchase even though we have tasted it.

While we were looking at the sandals we were going to buy, the trader didn't forget to promote the fruit he was selling at low prices, and in the end we bought some fruit after we finished buying the sandals.

Well, because this traditional market is adjacent to the modern market, we also took the time to visit the modern market, and what's unique is that this modern market is not placed in a nice or up-to-date building, it turns out that the modern market building is an old building with historical heritage in During the Dutch colonial period, only the trading system inside was modern, but in terms of the building, it was still ancient, only made more beautiful with glass doors and automatic or motorized stairs.

Maybe there needs to be a lot of renovation for this city center, to make it more attractive for immigrants to visit this city, indeed local community traditions also influence changes, if community traditions are combined with modern changes then it will look mixed like this, maybe a better arrangement is possible will bring even more interesting changes to this city.

So, for those of you who want to visit the city of Banda Aceh, don't forget to stop at this traditional market, maybe by visiting directly you will see other unique aspects that are still a tradition of the local community in this city.
Thank you for watching our travel video this time, and don't forget to follow our journey in the next videos. by.....

Good that you bought the fruit of vendor. I thought it's only in the Philippines. Just like when we ate at the restaurant last week. A woman came to us selling veggies. She also lowered the price than going to the market. We all took her veggies.

Sometimes you just need to roam around and look for more shop, then you will see much cheaper prices compared to the first one. We usually go to a shopping center as well, and maybe I should share it through a video some other time. Take care and keep safe.

Best regards,
Cherry
