(ENG/ESP) Ladies of Hive Community Contest #199: Freelance or working outside the home? / ¿Trabajar freelance o fuera de casa?
ENGLISH CONTENT
Hello to all the wonderful women of this community! 😊 I feel that the topics for this week's contest fit me like a glove, or at least, I would like to talk to you a little about my work experience, which although it is not as much compared to other people, I consider that at least it has helped me realize in which environment I perform best and what types of jobs are most functional for me.
Based on your own job hunting and work experiences, which do you prefer, working from home as a freelancer, or working outside the home where you get stable monthly pay? Why?
As I mentioned, compared to other people, I consider that I have had few jobs haha. I have worked a couple of times serving the public and the rest, as a manufacturer for other people; apart from that, I always tried to have extra income working on my own, since I like to have several sources of money (I have even worked as a face painter at children's parties).
Without a doubt, I prefer to work from home, since you have the comfort of having the workplace close by and using all your energy carrying out your activity, because let's be honest, a lot of energy is lost when traveling to the workplace... It's exhausting.
I am also a somewhat introverted person, those who know me don't believe it, but my social battery runs out very quickly and working outside the home, where interaction is constant, overwhelms me. That's why I felt happy when I worked in a workshop, away from all external distractions, I only focused on my own thing and was really efficient in what I did.
Depending on the earnings, it would depend. I have had the opportunity to work for others outside the home and from home, as well as work as a freelancer or on my own (as I am currently doing) and without a doubt, I prefer to work as a freelancer, even though my earnings are not as favorable. But I admit that my "mental health" is better than when I worked for others. Many times, the level of stress that is handled when you have a boss is the same or worse whether you are at home or not.
So, based on my experience, I'd say I'd much rather work from home as a freelancer, but with a stable monthly salary. It's not impossible, there are people who live that way and I hope to be part of that guild soon. That's why I strive every day to improve my skills, because I want to continue feeling comfortable while I work.
Explore how each option (Freelancing vs. Traditional Employment) impacts work–life balance, considering factors such as time management, personal freedom, and the demands of clients vs employers.
Based on my experience, I think that it depends not only on the job, but also on the person. At least in my case, I consider myself a workaholic, so whenever I am doing my work, whether I am working freelance or with a "flexible" schedule, I always tend to be too demanding with myself and I admit that many times, I put aside what would be rest or my personal freedom.
Although I consider that having a job outside the home or a traditional one, is much harder, since we have to abide by a series of rules, such as the schedule, the work time, exhaustion from work and the commute. It is natural that under these factors, we are completely exhausted and when we get home, we only want to see the bed.
But, let's not think that working independently is more relaxing because of that. If we have a good clientele, services can be available even outside of our working hours and although we try to impose a work schedule, sometimes demanding clients can make us end up going beyond our work parameters, serving outside of hours and also having to deal with the exhaustion that comes from working directly with clients.
Although I consider that working freelance allows you to better use your personal time, depending on the type of work you do. At least in my case, I can have a day off if I need to or mobilize my working hours in case I need to do other types of activities.
I have many friends who barely have any free time and who want to meet people outside of the work environment or who feel too suffocated to the point of despair. It is true that we need a job to take care of our needs, but we must also consider that there are needs that we cannot put aside for that job.
Depression is more common than we think and is linked to over-demands. The best thing we can do is find a job that best suits our expectations and emotional management.
Thank you very much for visiting my post. I hope you found it interesting.
Until next time!
Very much agree with you @suezoe "The best thing we can do is to look for a job that best suits our expectations and our emotional management", indispensable for our process of personal growth and well-being. Greetings.
I really regret every time I hear about people who end up crying in the bathrooms at work, because they can't stand the work stress or the environment. It's sad that we think we have to "endure" being in a place for the economic benefit when, in the long run, the mental and emotional damage we are doing to ourselves can be detrimental to our health 😔 It's good that these issues are now taken into account with the importance they deserve 😌 Thank you very much for reading my post and for commenting 🤗💚

Most jobs give depression indeed...and those who can't manage emotional stress efficiently fall into dark corners of their rooms and lose the right track.. even when you in the comfort of your own home, you are prone to stress as well,, time management and finding ways to balance work-life is always the solution here.

It's true, what helped me was loving my job, but that's a double-edged sword because I was the one who put myself under stress for not wanting to stop producing because that "made me happy", but I'm not a machine 😆 but well, I'm glad I was able to understand this and try not to push myself any harder than necessary to complete my tasks and always being aware of my health 😊 Thank you very much for reading my post and for commenting 😘💚
