CONTENIDO EN ESPAÑOL

¡Hola a todos los integrantes de ésta comunidad! Una vez más, me sumo a éste interesante concurso que pone a prueba nuestra creatividad narrativa 😉

Cuando era niña, recuerdo que era bastante común ver fuentes en algunas plazas o en los centros comerciales. Las ubicadas en estos últimos, por lo general, siempre estaban llenas en el fondo de incontables y brillantes monedas. Las personas, las lanzaban al tiempo que pedían un deseo con la esperanza de verlo cumplido. No sé si alguno de los deseos que alguien pidió, se cumplió realmente luego de haber efectuado aquel ritual, ni tampoco a donde fueron a parar todas esas monedas una vez que la fuente era limpiada.

Siendo tan pequeña, me sorprendía simplemente el hecho sin comprenderlo realmente, así que cuando mi padre me daba una moneda para lanzarla, en ningún momento pensaba en pedir un deseo, únicamente lanzaba la moneda y la veía hundirse en el fondo, junto a las demás. Me sentía bien por el sólo motivo de participar, al igual que el resto.

En el presente, ya nadie hace eso. Al menos aquí en Venezuela, ya no se usan monedas, así que no habría nada que lanzar a una fuente y en el caso de que formasen parte del proceso de pago, dudo que la gente se desapegara de sus monedas por algo tan "ilusorio" como lo es un deseo. Sin mencionar que aquel efecto mágico se ha perdido al encontrar con que la mayoría de las fuentes, están secas.

Por eso, cuando me encuentro con alguna fuente funcionando, no puedo evitar detenerme por el asombro. El agradable sonido que emanan me recuerda al pasado, como si fuese el llamado a salirse de la rutina, a detenerse un momento a observar como el agua fluye naturalmente, invitándonos a hacer lo mismo en medio de nuestras ajetreadas vidas.

Y si soy lo suficientemente perspicaz, puedo mirar al fondo de esas fuentes y sé que encontraré algún pequeño sueño, esperando resurgir.

Hello to all the members of this community! Once again, I join this interesting contest that tests our narrative creativity 😉

When I was a child, I remember that it was quite common to see fountains in some squares or in shopping centers. Those located in the latter, in general, were always filled at the bottom with countless shiny coins. People threw them while making a wish in the hope of seeing it fulfilled. I don't know if any of the wishes that someone made were really fulfilled after having performed that ritual, nor do I know where all those coins went once the fountain was cleaned.

Being so little, I was simply surprised by the fact without really understanding it, so when my father gave me a coin to throw, I never thought about making a wish, I just threw the coin and watched it sink to the bottom, along with the others. . I felt good just for participating, just like the rest.

Nowadays, no one does that anymore. At least here in Venezuela, coins are no longer used, so there would be nothing to throw into a fountain and if they were part of the payment process, I doubt that people would part with their coins for something so "illusory" as is a wish. Not to mention that that magical effect has been lost when we find that most of the sources are dry.

That's why, when I come across a working fountain, I can't help but stop in amazement. The pleasant sound they emanate reminds me of the past, as if it were the call to get out of the routine, to stop for a moment to observe how water flows naturally, inviting us to do the same in the midst of our busy lives.

And if I'm discerning enough, I can look to the bottom of those wells and know I'll find some little dream, waiting to resurface.
