This Northern Flicker is teaching its young one where the suet cake feeder is. The young Flicker was having a tough time staying on the feeder but its parent was diligent in feeding it anyway.

I love the pattern on its back and the golden striping on the wings. They truly are beautiful birds and I enjoy keeping suet for them all year long.

I love watching all the young birds with their parents. I just got some shots yesterday of a few baby Robins that were so darn cute. Have a wonderful day, Melinda.

And that's exactly where birds should be- out in the open, with the freedom to fly where they want at all times, not locked up in cages in aircon houses.

I love my Indy Jean soooo much, but if I handn't of inherited her from my mum, I would never have a bird as a pet, I think it's cruel.

She's never in her cage, unless I have to go out and all of the doors are left open.
Actually heres her 28th floor apartment today and she's just hanging around outside watching me clean....

Stunning bird, relatively large birds visiting your feeder. Wing markings with red patch great identification.
