ANOTHER SIDE TO HER
Sometimes, we keep unknown friends, and those friends mostly have a very strong effect on our lives.
Emily was a very quiet girl and alhough she came from a very wealthy background, she always managed to be unnoticed wherever she went. In her school, she had very few friends, and one of them,Rose, was the closest to her.

She met Rose at one of her science classes when they were the only two who had the answer to a question asked by the teacher. Emily was one of the most brilliant in her class. She was studying to be a medical doctor and so she was very serious with her studies. Emily didn't like associating with people but since she noticed Rose was a brilliant girl, she decided that there was no harm in being close to her and was pleased when Rose always came around to talk to her.
After some few days of casual greetings and acquaintances, they eventually became very close friends. People would even say they were sisters because of how alike they were.
Emily's dad was a business tycoon while Rose's dad was a nurse who worked multiple shifts so his family could keep up with living, but still, this didn't make any difference between them.
Emily's low-key life in school ended the day her dad came to her school for a speech as he was running for the mayor position and the school was one of the biggest in the city. During his speech he made it known to the school that his only daughter schooled there. The whole school was shocked by the discovery. Emily knew the way school life worked and knew that her life had automatically changed.
The next day Emily and Rose were so popular that even people they never knew wanted to hang out or be friends with them.
Emily was in class tutoring one of her classmates who begged and convinced her to be her tutor just so that they could be seen like they hung out together.
"Emily, guess what?" Rose said as she sat next to Emily not minding the angry face of the person getting tutored.
"I can't right now, I am busy," Emily replied.
"Don't worry we can continue later," Gabby said as she took her books and left them alone to talk.
"All right, she is gone now so guess?" Rose said with so much excitement.
"you know me, I don't like guessing," Emily replied.
"Okay, we just got an invitation from Jake to his weekend party," Rose said with a constant smile on her face.
"Wow, that's great," Emily said as she put a fake smile on her face.
Rose saw Emily's expression and knew she was not excited, "and why aren't you excited?"
"No, I am excited. For you," Emily replied.
"hold on, what do you mean by excited for me?"
Emily gave Rose that look that said 'you know what I mean', "You know me and I don't really like parties," she was saying when teacher came into the class and Rose said "Don't worry we will talk about it later" As with that, she went to take her seat for the class.
After School Rose and Emily went home together to Emily's house. Rose's dad was not around most of the time so she rather went over to Emily's instead of staying alone.
They were both in Emily's room when Emily's mom brought cookie treats for them. She dropped the cookie box and was about to leave when Rose called her back, "Mrs Terry,"
"Yes, sweetie," Emily's mom turned back.
"I wanted to talk to you about something," Rose said as she ignored the signs from Emily to stop because Emily already knew what Rose was up to.
Rose's gaze held a determination that Emily couldn't ignore. She watched, curious, as Rose continued, "Well, I just wanted to ask you if Rose and I could go to this party we were invited to."
Emily's mom was kind of shocked because Emily had never talked about partying.
"Oh really, where and when is this party," she asked.
"It is for tomorrow night and it is at my classmate's house, I would love it if you could let Emily and I attend the party," she chipped in.
"Well, that wouldn't be a problem as long as you come back early, no alcohol and no boys," Mrs Terry said sternly.
"Yes, thank you, Mrs terry," Rose replied.
Emily let out a sigh once her mother was out of her room. "I knew she wouldn't hesitate to say yes, she is always disturbing me about making more friends. But I just don't like parties."
Rose giggled and teased her "Don't worry, I will be there to protect you."
The next day in the evening Rose went over to Emily's house to help her prepare, when they were done Emily's mom made sure to check their dressing and just before they left she told them that she and Rose's dad had agreed on the time they should return and she had already instructed her driver to bring them back by 10 pm.
They arrived the address and Emily took a deep breath before getting off. Emily was nervous while Rose was just excited and couldn't wait to join the party.
Emily could feel the bass from the loud music before even entering the house.
As they both entered Jake and his group of friends who were known to be the clique of popular and rich kids immediately took them to the makeshift VIP section. After some minutes, Emily found a way to sneak out of the group and went to a corner to sit down alone. She sat there for a long time when Rose suddenly came to where she was sitting.
Rose was dancing to the music as she held Emily's hand pulling her to come and dance with her but Emily didn't want to.
"I can't dance and I don't feel like even trying," Emily tried to raise her voice so she could be audible in the loud music.
Around the same time, a guy came with two cups of alcohol offering them to drink. Rose took it without hesitation but Emily didn't. She looked at Rose in surprise as she gulped the alcohol.
She dragged Rose down enough for her to be able to speak to her directly without having to shout.
"Rose, you know you are not meant to take alcohol. You are underage and it's illegal,"
"come on Emily, don't be a baby, you only live once so why don't you just enjoy i? Live a little, babygirl"
Emily was shocked by Rose's behavior, she was a different person.
When Emily noticed the party was going out of control she looked around for Rose and when she found her she told her that they should leave, but Rose just ignored her. She got angry and left without her friend.
Emily's mom was surprised that Emily came home alone and asked what happened. Emily just told her mom that she was not feeling well and wanted to leave and couldn't wait to find Rose. Emily's mom told her that she was wrong for leaving her friend not knowing what transpired between them.
The next day, Rose met Emily and apologized to her. Emily was the kind who didn't keep grudges so she forgave her friend. But now she knew that there was another side of her friend. Probably a lot other dudes she may or may never learn about.
Thanks for stopping by.

While there is certainly only one life, we have to know how to live it. The holiday rush can cause us to do things we may regret. Greetings
We certainly should learn to love right even if all we have is a week long.
People often show their true colors when the party lights come on and the drinks start flowing! Thanks for sharing your story in The Ink Well, and for reading and commenting on the work of other community members.
True. A bottle and the dark might just be all of takes to be a totally different person.
I'm glad I could write, too.
Thank you
