Find the Elf on the Shelf!

Let's have some more holiday fun again this year! Why? because we love having fun. We have a contest for all you Hive denizens. It's called the Elf on the Shelf. We did this last year, and it was pretty thrilling!

It is fairly simple, we will have volunteers that are going to hide some elves starting on Monday, the 16th, to watch all of you Hivepeeps and make sure you are being naughty nice! If you happen to come across one of them, you win a prize.

What even is 'The Elf on the Shelf'? Where did that come from? In 2005 (which makes it a fairly recent Holiday gesture), Chanda Bell suggested to her family that they write a book on their own personal family tradition. The book was about an elf sent by Santa Claus, that watched over families - mostly the children - and reported back to the North Pole on whether or not they were being naughty or nice.

You ever wonder how you ended up either of those lists?

It's because of the elves. They've apparently been doing it the entire time and we just couldn't see them.

Trixies they are.

Mischievous pixies they are.

But, it gives us something fun to do.

After the self-published book went into it's marketing mode, it captured several awards including a Book of the Year from Creative Child's Awards and a National Best Books Award from USA Book News, before finally hitting the number one spot on USA Today's bestseller list. I wonder if our tradition of opening presents could be bestseller? HA!

The Good Stuff

We will be giving out some prizes to those that find an Elf we will place on chain as afore mentioned. Maybe this year, @stickupboys will jump in the spirit and spread Christmas love around with us again. If you or your organization would like to add anything to the candy bowl, just comment below or reach out to @enginewitty on Discord. So here's what we currently have:

  1. 70 HBI from @thealliance - 10 per Elf found.
  2. 7000 PIMP from The District.
  3. ???
  4. ???
  5. ???

That puts each Elf currently worth 10 HBI and 1000 PIMP! Starting to wish I had someone else run this contest so I can go find one! 😁 Remember, this is simply our announcement of the contest, it will begin on Monday, the 16th, now let's get in the Christmas Spirit!

I will add 100 PIZZA tokens to the prize pool for each winner. They can be sold for SWAP.HIVE on Hive-Engine, or staked so the winner can do the !PIZZA command in comments on Hive. 🙂 Should I send them to TheAlliance now, or directly to the winners later?

Nobody put slothly elf in the corner or on a shelf! We think we make a cute elf, though. This is a fantastic idea! We were going to offer some $slothbuzz prizes, but seeing what's already on offer, we might hunt for some elves ourselves!
