A Comfortable Cup of Coffee

Hello, caffeine addicts... how are you this week? Have you enjoyed a cup of your favourite coffee? Or more than a cup? Where do you enjoy your coffee? To be honest, today I just had my usual black coffee without gulla at home. However, while reading #TheCoffeeShopPrompt, I put my cup on the table for a moment, and then remembered, how do I usually enjoy my coffee when I go to cafes?

After taking the last sip of coffee in my cup, I rushed to my room and opened my laptop. So, let's get started...

Americano, Sugarless Black Coffee, or Long Black

Can you guess what I choose when visiting cafe after coffee cafe? Yep! I'll prioritise the three types of coffee I mentioned in the sub-title. So, I did play it safe and chose coffee flavours that are familiar to my palate, especially in my stomach

At home, as I mentioned above, or in the previous prompt, I prefer pure coffee without anything added. Oh! To be more precise, just an ice cube.

Why not explore other flavours?
If you're wondering, the answer is because my tolerance for lactose or dairy ingredients is very low. Even lower now. You don't know when it started? All you remember is that I wasn't used to processed foods with high dairy content since I was a kid. So, maybe that's had an effect until now. Besides, black coffee can really restore energy faster than milk with a lot of additives, according to my body.

For example, a while ago when my friend and I went to Blok M and had coffee at Join Kopi in South Jakarta, I also ordered their original menu which is black coffee. Even though there are many more tantalising coffee menus but, for the sake of safety and comfort in this hang out session, I chose black coffee instead. My friend also indirectly became interested in the menu I ordered, only, I ordered cold coffee, and my friend ordered hot coffee.

Have I never had coffee with other ingredients added: milk, whipped cream, palm sugar, etc?

Of course I have. Every now and then I also really miss having coffee with other ingredients added. Sometimes I order a latte. However, the thing is... when I order a latte, like a matcha latte, or something like that, I have to be self-aware that for the next few hours, my stomach will feel uncomfortable. Sometimes the effect is even more immediate than the next few hours. If that's the case, I always have stomach medicine on hand that I take at least three hours after drinking coffee.

Although I sometimes envy my friends for changing enu and tasting new variants that keep evolving, I still have to know my limits. After all, pait coffee is still the best.

So, that's my story about #tcsp this week. Hope you enjoyed reading my prompt... see you in the next post.

I try to stay away as much as I can from lactose, too. I do like a Flat White when having coffee out occasionally, but mostly drink it black and sugarless too. Although I'm a bit confused here, what's the difference between long black, sugarless black and americano?

Aha! You must be wondering what the differences are between the three, right? So, for long lack and americano, the only difference is in the order of pouring the water and espresso, cmiiw. It's only that it. But, it does affect the thickness of the taste. But for black coffee sugarless, what I mean is usually manual brew coffee. That's about it. Thank you for stopping by and discussing.

Have a nice day @honeydue

I am also lactose intolerant so I understand your situation very well. I also want to be able to drink a delicious latte in any form without worrying about the after effects, but we have to avoid it even if we want to consume lactose.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us.☕

Excellent Friday.

The idea is always to have something different and enjoy the experience. That's what I believe.

But everyone has their own taste. I would always miss trying something different.
